IANAL so idk if the translation of "trademark rejection" is correct or if its not in the documents referred to. So ill wait till the time comes if Gfriend redebuts with the same name or not to see if this has any significance on wat is most important to Buddies, ie if all 6 members are interested in remaining together as a grp n whether they can retain the Gfriend name/trademark for themselves. Otherwise its just idle speculation at this point.

I feel like if Gfriend does win the rights to their name and re debuts then it could be a defining moment in how groups handle contract negotiations as a company being able to lose all rights to a group if they all leave would give a lot of power to successful artists

I just think some of the members like Sowon might be done with being an idol by the time the trademark issue is resolved. Even SinB n Yerin kinda seemed they were going on momentum throughout some of the last promotion cycles, which is just my opinion.

If trademark issue got resolved tomorow or soon, i could believe momentum would get all 6 members to quickly comeback but i hv no hopes for any fast outcome like tat; besides which they arent even signed to any company rn so earliest i foresee is late this yr end/early next yr. For a 6 yr idol girl group tat (or even sooner) might be too late.

I sat on a draft for like 5 hrs or so, without posting(the entire preceding italicised portion): i rmbr now a PD posted/mentioned being interested/working on songs for GFriend; so if the members redebut i hope the songs/music retain the character/identity we know n love. Im still slightly sceptical its gonna happen anytime soon tho, if historical precedent is anything to go by: Got7 might get there first as JYPE/their members seem more likely to reband(from an outside perspective with no inside information watsoever; just as Shinhwa, g.o.d., HOT(?), JYJ, Highlight/Beast hv been precedent but not T-ara, BEG, any idol ggs before watsoever.)

Well a curious thing about that is that Amazing Saturday played Mermaid which is another song Mio produced and he said he was going to do an Instagram live however postponed it because it got too much attention and made it into the public eye which is a weird thing to do if it was going to be just an Instagram live.

Yeah the Iz*One one is more of a long shot especially with how many moving parts there is becaue of how many companies there are involved however I could see the idea behind it being used some day as it shows with a big enough fandom you could get them to fund a company potentially and if it's something that the artists and fans cooporate with it could be pulled off that way.

I cant keep track if other idols hv done same/similar non-resigning contracts then announcing deals with other agencirs/companies.

I get tat idols dont get to spend much time with their families during the whole yr-long promotion/practise/training~watever u call it cycle. Which is precisely wat i meant with SinB: now tat she's not living in a dorm with the other members/even before, she might or might not reevaluate her life before deciding to dedicate herself to another 3~5 years or however long a contract lasts if GFriend redebuts. I mean same for all, just tat i saw the stark contrast in SinB in tat one video compared to other videos where her savage facade/exterior disintegrated entirely/mostly while showing us her at home(rarely see an idol at home, even during 2020~2021).

The whole immediate announcements(or almost immediate) after news of leaving original agency/company is why im sceptical/closing off my heart for self defense; after 3 going on 4 yrs of SNSD/SM statement we are in discussion about SNSD future. Neither closing it off nor going forward with full grp promotion/activities; so far-i can only live with 1 bias grp in such uncertainty at the same time. I hv to close my heart n tell myself, wait n see if any developments/movement instead of taking any incremental news as a hopeful sign. Other fans can spy out titbits n gain hope (tho i thot u might hv the same scepticism as me seeing how EXID are seemingly in limbo too rn). I cant put myself through however long it takes for Gfriend to redebut or not, unless its precedent setting n they announce it in days/weeks. Ymmv.

Yeah i was rlly hyped up from 2018/after Oh!GG debut tat OT8/OT5 cb was gonna happen b4 now, but 2019 with Burning Sun/Yuri's brother case then 2020~2021, even if SM/OT5/OT8 were devoted to make this happen things got scuttled by external events. The thing is tho tat f(x) members all leaving SM has me more convinced its not external factors as much as SM just not willing to set any precedent tat any idol not signing their soul, in blood n tears n sweat to SM will ever be part of any SNSD comeback. Just a feeling i hv. Same with JYPE/YG/HYBE~SouMu, unlike RBW which granted seems like a limited time/options deal. If SM/SNSD were fully serious, ida thunk it woulda happened already. It still might, but im keeping my hopes damped down rlly low so as to be pleasantly surprised if/when it happens-basically just switch off tat part of my brain which thinks abt it; same basically with GFriend redebut/cb/watever u want to call it, now.

Edit: if SM/SNSD had did same as Hyelin n acknowledged/admitted it might be yrs away i might be more charitable in my thots. Instead its just seems to be milking SONEs for Seasons Greetings merch, publicity/watever. Tho i will say with SM's style of not giving away anything until a release date is out, they aint teasing it but they aint shut down talk of it happening either; just admitting/acknowledging it could be yrs away might hv worked but its not SM's style.
