I mean it can progress to the point of kidney issues and lameness at times because of swollen limbs. BUT it also depends on where you live as well. In some places it is more of a concern, so testing might be more common and as a result Lyme disease might be caught quicker in those areas. And...

I also wanted to add that we can typically find ticks easily on ourselves but on dogs it can sometimes be a long ass time before someone even notices their dog has ticks which of course can lead to a higher risk.
