Welcome to the second match of this first round! Today it is Abyss against Yours.

Abyss was released first on December 3, 2020 for Jin's birthday then put on official music platform on October 21, 2022 in anticipation of his official solo debut. Described by Teen Vogue, "The song’s lighthearted ballad ambiance stands in stark contrast to its somber lyrics, which ponder inner demons and inconsolable anxiety". The lyrics skillfully demonstrates that feeling of being overwhelmed with metaphors of drowning over a soft acoustic and piano instrumental. Jin has talked about how this song has been an outlet for him to share his real feelings to his fans as he is always reluctant to do so by fear to worry them too much. Even if you are not a fan of ballads, Jin's unique and emotional vocals will win you over!
There are no official music video or performances to this day.




Vs.

Yours was released on November 7, 2021 as part of the K-drama Jirisan's official soundtrack introduced in episode six. Yet again a ballad (he's quite good at those), this time showing off his beautiful head voice! He was not named "Silver Voice" by Grammy panel members for nothing. The lyrics express a classic heartbreaking love story where the other doesn't seem to replicate the feeling, but they are still vague enough to be completly up to interpretation.

when I first saw the matchup, I was like "Oh, definitely Yours, Abyss sounds too dark with that song title" lol but now that I've read the descriptions, Abyss actually seems the happier pick. Abyss!

ETA: Plus, I don't do dramas at all, K-drama or regular drama, so it's also Abyss by default.
