The nice thing about Korean is I won't know unless I willingly look it up. Bad thing is when Kpop gets turned into English with it's English Ver....then I'm forced to hear the cringe. NOT A FAN.

Not to me, at least i dont think so. Maybe if its just cringe lyrics im ok with it. But if the whole song has cringe lyrics n is just cringe overall then its not just cringe lyrics but overall cringe tat makes me cring: frex the boys english version by SNSD is kinda super cringe but its not jyst the lyrics but the whole song. The koren version is kinda alright so maybe it is the cringe lyrics but i dunno. Im pretty much believe kpop songs has cringe lyrics but in korean so its a matter of perspective/fluency, n it dont seem like koreans has problem with cringe korean lyrics i dont think. Ill just listen to wat i like n try to dont think abt cringe lyrics.

k-pop or not, i don't care for the lyrics unless they're offensive or something as long as the song itself is good. even if the lyrics sound like they were made using the predictive text feature, i don't care at all. when it comes to k-pop, i don't even understand most of the lyrics and i don't bother to look them up. when a song is in english and the lyrics are bad then it's a bit worse i guess but it still doesn't stop me from enjoying the song itself. so that's why i really don't get when people say that a song needs to have a deep meaning behind the lyrics to be considered good, for me no matter how meaningful the lyrics are if the song is unlistenable i'm not going to force myself to like it.

I mean for the first what 10 listens to a k song, the catchiness of the chorus is likely going to be the draw. There is a study [if you're interested I'll send a link] that has stated that music enjoyment is based on familiarity. Basically the more one listens to something the brain makes one feel you like it based patterns of repeated exposure.. But I digress. I think music, cadence, delivery of lyrics with the instrumental is important as well. There's a reason I don't like Seventh Sense, but do like Cherry Bomb.

But the question I have is: what are good lyrics. Some mixed language songs might be cringey at times like Mamacita: "Close your lips, shut your tongue..." If were talking ballads, as they typically contain maudlin lyrical themes, then... at times they can be hard too since a lot of people don't like ballads and too slow. I like Lee Hi, but when I'm listening to k-pop I often don't think of her.

this i agree with, everyone's definition of good lyrics is different. my best friend absolutely despises one polish singer (i don't keep up with modern polish music so i don't know who that is only that my friend hears her songs on the radio a lot, but honestly being clueless makes listening to her complaints more fun lmao) because she always talks about the same thing, even her more upbeat songs are about heartbreak because of a man who left her. "her songs are not even written like songs - sometimes it's like she's reciting some text messages she wrote to that dude who left her and calling it lyrics" and "not all her songs they play are boring but she could have the most fun dance melody and she would still sing words like ooooooh we were so nice together my dress was pretty and oooooh now you left it hurts me ooooh i want to cry" are exactly what she said

I think it can be very subjective

I love the anime Utena OST, and the lyrics are the most random they can get besides Nmixx O.O
