It's mainly if you die then your organs are donated to people who need them, but yes I guess I could donate a kidney while alive

baring a fit person actually dying while in hospital its a feel good measure. there is a really tight time line on use of organs.

a large amount of organs that get donated are actually motorcycle crashes oddly.

Yeah, since I was 18. Although now UK law was changed like 2 years ago so everone is automatically a donor unless they want to opt out for whatever reason, they can do it online.
