Australian comedy show makes rude and racist? comments towards BTS (2 Viewers)

Yup, again in the topic of "western" people disrespecting kpop and kpop artist and possibly being racist in the side, what's new. I'm usually bit on-fence about these cause to me kpop fans tend to be overprotective and i'm fan of dark comedy and sarcasm. But i gotta say that it did look more like attempt to bash BTS than attemp of comedy that wasn't just received well by fans.

so many distasteful comments in one video. adding that clip of jimin messing up while singing wasn't cool either. does it kill these people to have some respect? anything that has a large following of teenage girls gets mocked. i think people try way too hard to be mature and immediately scoff at things that appeals to that sort of audience. his response to the criticism was so inadequate too, what an asshole. i'd rather hang out with a hysterical fangirl than with any of these sad close-minded fools who act like a korean boyband is the most mysterious incomprehensible shit ever.

I think the clip of jimin having a bad singing was were it really went to far5, american performers very few of them that i've seen actually dance and perform, and i know even in my country where we have some groups but not in the same capacity..even here we ften underestimate it. But really bts and oter k groups, there doing intesive dancing for a LONG period of time, even the best snger will have difficulty in those conditions, you can't really judge based off of 1 concert clip. after that point it was truely just defamation. and i get what you mean, if it had been a bit more lighthearted justa little bit, i wouldn't really take offense either, i do think some people get to worked up over any criticism or joke, but this to me, like you said didn't really properly come across as a jpke

Yea it makes it seems that the intention wasn't just to make comedic jokes, it was also to diss and shade bts and kpop. Like lot of times i think the issues are just bad jokes that don't quite land because the ones making those jokes were ignorant about BTS and kpop. But this time it doesn't seem like bad jokes and ignorance, it does seem like they really tried hard to put BTS down. Mockery is form of comedy as well, but then it should be witty and is really BTS good and deserving target of mockery, it's not like they are politicians who have done shitty things.

I wouldn't call it racist, there was nothing racist about their commentary. Made for a gag, definitely, and quite over the top, yes. Very unprofessional from (what apparently is) a main broadcaster in Australia.

They wouldn’t have never added such a clip for a Western singer and everybody voice cracked at some point. It’s unavoidable with a schedule like BTS one.

From the clip nothing stood out to me as racist. There's rude stuff sure but I can tell that's the type comedy show it is. There's versions in America where they make fun of American celebs in the same way and have similar jokes.

Though the Williamson guy's tweets that i've seen are really sketchy. But his stuff is really the only thing that I found a problem. The over insulting humor isn't my thing but nothing seemed horrible tbh.

Yup the reason i brought the racism up was cause it was accused of being racist. I can see it being bit xenophobic in some level, like looking down to something just cause it's not from angloamerican culture and refusing to accept it, I don't think Australia has best track record towards Asians either which was why many knetz saw it racist too.. but I don't think any joke or comment included was racist itself rather it was just distasteful and failed comedy to me.

Aside from the sexist commentary and insulting their talents, I believe that's the point. If it hurt BTS at all though, then they just apologize asap. That guy's tweet wasn't okay at all either.
