Blackpink's Jisoo drew a firm line between herself and a sex crime allegedly committed by her brother.
“Neither the artist nor Blissoo has any connection with the issue currently being raised,” said attorney Eun Hyun-ho at law firm Kim & Chang, who represents Jisoo's agency Blissoo. "Much of the information circulating online is either unverified speculation or outright false.”
Reports broke earlier this month that a family member of "a famous girl group member" was arrested at the scene after attempting to engage in inappropriate physical contact with a woman. Police sought a detention warrant, but the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office rejected the request.
Allegations later surfaced online claiming the individual was Jisoo’s brother.
Since then, online users have asked whether Jisoo had no prior knowledge of her brother's alleged wrongdoing or was otherwise involved, particularly given that it was widely reported that she had established the agency with him.
Jisoo founded Blissoo, a management agency, in February 2024 after her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment expired in 2023.
The attorney stressed that some online claims — including that her brother co-founded the agency with Jisoo or serves as an executive or CEO of Blissoo — are “entirely false.”
Jisoo was also unaware of or involved in her sibling's private lives, the attorney said, noting that she “began trainee life at a young age and has lived independently, spending a long period apart from her family.”
The agency also denied allegations that her family members were involved in its management.
“The artist did receive limited assistance from family members during the preparation process for establishing Blissoo, such as conveying messages and facilitating communication with relevant parties,” the attorney said.
“However, no family members have received compensation from Blissoo or participated in its decision-making, either then or now. Since its establishment, the company has been operated entirely independently, with no involvement from the artist’s family.”
The attorney added that Jisoo and Blissoo, the company, have had no contact with the individual and are not involved in the matter.
“Blissoo and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to the individual, nor do they have any plans to do so in the future,” attorney Eun said.
The agency warned of a zero-tolerance approach to the spread of false information, pursuing both civil and criminal action.
“We make it clear that we will take strong legal action against those who maliciously or repeatedly create or spread such content, without any leniency or settlement,” attorney Eun said.
Jisoo debuted in 2016 as a member of Blackpink under YG Entertainment. She has been pursuing a solo career under Blissoo ever since her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment expired in 2023. She also recently appeared in Netflix's series "Boyfriend on Demand."
