Sea lion population keeps shrinking :(

i completely did not read the op and thought we were just sharing which animals are endangered and appreciating their beauty.
sea lions are endangered due to climate change and sometimes they end up in fishermen catch. They don’t normally dive deep but have the ability dive past 250 meters.

Sumatran Rhino:

The Sumatran rhinoceros, also known as the hairy rhinoceros or Asian two-horned rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), is a rare member of the family Rhinocerotidae and one of five extant species of rhinoceros. It is the only extant species of the genus Dicerorhinus. It is the smallest rhinoceros, although it is still a large mammal. It has two horns.

They are now critically endangered, with only five substantial populations in the wild: four in Sumatra and one in Borneo. They are estimated to number fewer than 80. The species was completely extirpated from Malaysia in 2019, and one of the Sumatran populations may already be extinct. In 2015, researchers announced that the Bornean rhinoceros had become extinct from the northern part of Borneo (Sabah, Malaysia); however, a tiny population was discovered in East Kalimantan in early 2016.

The Sumatran rhino is a mostly solitary animal except for courtship and offspring-rearing. It is the most vocal rhino species and also communicates through marking soil with its feet, twisting saplings into patterns, and leaving excrement.

Sadly, we can assume how this will end with less than 80 Sumatran rhinos. :(

Yeah they don’t have much of a chance sadly, but hopefully the other rhino species will get enough support to not die out.

Once I watched a documentary about Northern white rhinos; Najin, a 32-year-old northern white rhino and her daughter Fatu, last two Northern white rhinos left in the world, living in Kenya. They tried to take eggs from them to save the species, but it didn't work, so now they let them 'retire' and well, they just let them die. Ngl, I almost cried when they said that rhinos feel sadness and when her mother dies, Fatu will be so lonely and sad.
We people destroy this amazing planet, yet we are still here while so many amazing creatures die around us. :(

Orangutans are currently only found in parts of Borneo n Sumatra. The Tapanuli Orangutan was first come across in 1997 and then in 2017 was identified to be a distinct species; different from 2 other species, the Sumatran Orangutan or Bornean Orangutan.

Only 800 individual Tapanuli Orangutans are estimated to be living in Tapanuli, making them the rarest Great Ape and they are critically endangered, due to small population size and other factors. Conservationists predict a 83% decline in population size in 75 years, if conservation measures and practices are not implemented.

Chimpanzees, our close relatives, play a vital role in maintaing the diversity of Central Africa's forests. The large seeds they eat and disperse are too big for most other animals. Without them, and their fellow great apes and elephants, these forests would be irreversibly changed. Yet today, all four chimpanzee subspecies are endangered.


The main threats to chimpanzees are habitat loss, disease, and hunting, especially for bushmeat. These are exacerbated by chimps' slow reproductive rate—if an adult is killed, it takes 14-15 years to replace him or her as a breeding individual.


Chimpanzees are vulnerable to more than 140 human diseases. As the number of people grows in and around their habitat, chimps are more likely to fall victim to illness.

Almost all macaw species are either threatened, critically endangered or extinct
Scientists have identified a total of 22 species of macaws. Of these, five are extinct (including the glaucus macaw and Spix’s macaw), three are critically endangered (the hyacinth macaws, red-fronted macaws and blue-throated macaws), four are listed as endangered, whilst all the rest are considered to be under threat. This pessimistic state of affairs is largely a product of illegal trapping for the bird trade. The birds’ charisma and entertainment value has made them popular pets worldwide. As with many other Amazon bird species and wildlife, deforestation and habitat degradation also pose a significant threat to population numbers, as seen recently by the devastating fires in the Pantanal that have ravaged the realm and number of Hyacinth macaws.

Orang Utans are living in Southeast Asia, especially on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.
Orang Utans are among the most intelligent animals in the world, they can use a variety of complex tools and build nests using wood and leaves.
They can understand human languages and can also use sign language even if they cannot speak.
Orang Utan species are categorized as "endangered" due to habitat destruction.

There are only 40,000-50,000 Asian Elephants left in the world currently. One of the biggest threats for them is loss of habitation and fragmentation. Unfortunately, humans will also hunt for and kill Asian Elephants for ivory.

This is a tree octopus. They live in the water, land, and, like its name, trees. It looks unreal, but yes, that is an octopus in a tree. The dog must has stunned it, because they normally have incredible camouflage abilities. They’re homes are being threatened because of deforestation to make humans more roads and homes. Wrangel Island is a peculiarity. The vast majority of woolly mammoths died out at the end of the last ice age, about 10,500 years ago. But because of rising sea levels, a population of woolly mammoths became trapped on Wrangel Island and continued living there until their demise about 3,700 years ago

The Tatra chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra tatrica; Slovak: Kamzík vrchovský tatranský; Polish: Kozica tatrzańska) is a subspecies of the chamois of the genus Rupicapra. Tatra chamois live in the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia and Poland.

As of 2006, the Slovak Tatra National Park was home to 371 chamois, of which 72 were lambs, and the Polish Tatra National Park was home to 117 chamois, of which 27 were lambs. As of 2010, a population recovered to 841 chamois, of which 74 were lambs, 699 (57 lambs) in Slovakia and 142 (17 lambs) in Poland, which is near the peak of 1964. The highest ever population was recorded in 2018, when 1,431 individuals were counted in Tatras.

In 2021 there were only 1,095 of them.

On the left is the Hawksbill turtle Pacific Green Sea Turtle (PGST for short)
Finding Nemo's Crush was inspired by these two. I mostly see the Hawksbill inspo.
Hawksbill live up to 30-50 years. PGST is said to live up to 35 years. Meanwhile, Crush was 150 years old I believe. He should be closer to 170 by now. The inspiration for Crush was clearly visual only but there are sea turtle species that can live up to 80 years.

Both of these species are listed as endangered. They're eggs are vulnerable to harvesting, their nesting sites on beaches are decreasing (due to rising sea levels), the adults are hunted, and some end up as fishermen bycatch.

Save the turtles. Leave them alone.
