I heard this earlier today and just wanted to- 
(This wasn’t said by someone I know personally, just a random encounter).
It is in fact not a choice my good sir… his reasoning behind how it is a choice is that you can apparently “choose” to come out of it.



Well how do you do that then? because I’d like to choose to come out of both please.
You can’t just choose to snap out of it, you can work to improve your mental health and find ways to go about life easier but you don’t just wake up and decide “I’m not going to be depressed or anxious anymore”.
It’s these kind of comments that always make me think “wow this person must think I love having a mental illness that negatively impacts my life on the daily”.
I don’t.
Sorry for the rant, but this comment annoyed me and I needed to vent.
