nah, I think people at first just were hyped about the idea of a super girl group (because of superm) so their first song was bound to make some noise and do well since people were curious + the controversy about the songs lyrics. other than that no one really wants this except a few fans + boa fans tho she doesn't really have that many fans + the song not being public-friendly.

plus there is the thing about how this group is being managed as well as the other fandoms wanting sm to focus on the main groups instead, mys are pretty angry about aespa not having a comeback, reveluvs wants a full album, and sones wants taeyeon to have a comeback as well. So I think they lost the hype a long time ago

I dunno, SuperM's songs always get attention (lots of negative ofc, but positive as well) and all the above is supposed to be true as well for SuperM (supposedly no one asked for SuperM (especially fans of other large bgs like to say that), exo-ls have been mad since the start, then Taemin fans were mad, some NCTzens were mad too though less than others), but SuperM always did well I'm pretty sure despite that.

step back was fun . ppl hated the lyrics but it was a nice event.
Nothing about this says fun.

to the og question it didnt kill red flavor but the time differance was much smaller.
same with step back . drop the album right after sm town.

I think SM is dropping the ball on the quality of their releases these days for their artists. As an EXO-L, I HATED Don't Fight the Feeling a lot (apologies to my fellow Eris). SuperM may have hits and misses but their songs so far are still better than Got the Beat.

Yet there are only 2 songs so far for Got the Beat, so let's see.

Digitally I think so, physical album wise I'm pretty sure they dont

Hmm. It’s the same approach they used with Step Back, which I think is why they thought it would work again. I feel like I saw a lot less hype for this one than the last one. It feels like all the buzz has been on the NewJeans new release.

I’m wondering do you need a fandom to be engaged in these supergroups to help drive buzz? On each of these groups, many of the older fandoms were disgruntled but the newer fandoms were excited to see more of their faves. On the first one, Mys were excited. On SuperM, NCTzens were excited.

Well I agree that Jopping and One are better but how often is music thee days about whats good? I feel like its usually more about who releases it. But its also hard to judge when Got the Beat have only two songs yeah.

It just frustrates me that people know how vocally good these artists are, but the management keeps messing up. I also think that forcing the SMCU by making their artists adapt the Kwangya concept (aside from it being only Aespa's) is also killing the creativity.

If done properly, it could've been something. However, instead of finding a way how to incorporate the idea around what each individual can offer, they make those individuals conform to it. So do their songs. Nobody would be able to relate to Kwangyafied experiences and emotions in the long run.

Hmm, LSM claims it has been years in the making but I think he just saw what Marvel was doing with the MCU and then went "Oh." 💀 I don't know if they took into account these factors:

1. The MCU is a collection of well-known and loved comic book characters that already has a huge fan base. Seeing things in live action will entice the diehards.

2. They also casted a lot of celebrities people are already familiar with, especially RDJ. This happens in film packaging, when produces build a team and cast to present to investors before they even announce anything publicly.

3. Third and most importantly, while these are movies about superheroes, all characters are relatable (even the villains to a certain extent).

Oh I disagree on the quality of releases. I keep seeing people complain about SM’s music but I feel like a lot of artists put out great songs and albums, even ones I don’t usually follow. The 2 Baddies album was exceptional and one of their best (the tt wasn’t their best but the rest of that album was amazing). Key’s Gasoline was also an amazing album and tt, as was Taeyeon’s INVU, Suho’s Grey Suit and WayV’s Phantom. Seulgi’s 28 Reasons was a great album too (the tt is a hit like 2 Baddies for me - I like it but it’s not my fave.) And that’s not counting the wonderful NCT SM Station singles and strong work from Kangta and Changmin.

The only SM releases that let me down last year were aespa, NCT Dream and Red Velvet. (And even tho I found Dream’s releases uneven last year, there were some excellent songs in there - I just thought HS/HF was a consistently stronger album than Glimo/Beatbox and I didn’t care for the Candy album at all except for one song, but I’m more into the newer Dream music so I know that release wasn’t really made for someone like me but for the OG Dreamzens.)

There were good releases, I agree. One thing I think made Gasoline good is because Key is hands on with it.

As for Aespa, they did release Illusion, my fave of all time of theirs. Followed by I'll Make You Cry. But those are the only songs I listen to from them, along with Black Mamba.

I meant in the way that once superm happened people liked the idea of the possibility of a super girl group, making them go like 'what if this member and this member were in the sgg' etc, and I don't really think you can compare how things will work out for a girl group with a boy group which is why I didn't talk much about superm other than that people liked the idea of a possible sgg once superm happened. especially with how different superm and got the beat are being managed

For example, superm and got the beat are marketed and managed differently, with superm we get content from the group and see the interactions between the members which makes the fans worm up to the groups + them having good songs compared to got the beat which we fans only got to the music and performance + many not liking the song they released so far, not to mention that fans were told that this project would be rotational like nct u. sigh I feel like I'm not good at explaining what I mean

there have been some songs that have been performed before the release and that hasn't really killed the hype for those groups
