From the artists I mentioned I can highly recommend listening to MWAM. A great Japanese band with a rather large discography (7 Studio albums, 4 EPs, 16 Single albums).

I'm interested in exploring more rap artists, but it takes a while to find something I like - especially considering I go off lyrics as much as beat.

I've found some I like by Kendrick, Doechii, Megan, Rapsody, Logic

Yes. I listen to some newer stuff (I think Kenny Mason's Angelic Hoodrat is the best album of the decade), but the 90s NYC hip-hop scene is my favourite scene in music ever.

I grew up listening to rap and now I still do especially when I am lifting weights. I only listen to 90s and early 00s rap tho none of that new stuff since I don't deem that as rap anyway.

Funny thing is, of all rappers Eminem is probably one of the rappers I least listened to yet everyone around me was crazy about him. I always would go to DMX,Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes, Tupac, Biggie, Dr Dre, Outkast, Nas, Nelly, Bow Wow and then the last rappers that were newer and near the end of the 00s that I also listened to are Lil Wayne and T.I. After that I moved to Kpop in early 2010.
