Do you have reading goals? How many books have you read this year? (2 Viewers)

I've finished 221, trying to get to 225. I want to wrap up a couple of series I'm in the middle of and have the books sitting on my shelf for.

So yes, I am posting this to be like "get off kps for a bit and go read" to myself.

This year, including rereads/multiple reads within one year, I think I'm sitting at about 50 books as of the other day according to my Goodreads. I may bump that up by a few more by the end of the year as I'm currently rereading the (bonkers and hilarious) Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series as my post-finals destresser. I think the most I've managed ina year is 70ish, but I'm willing to try and push my limit next year! I just always get a bit afraid I won't meet my Goodreads goal. I always like the satisfaction of the "challenge complete" badge.

That's excellent progress! I don't think I read that much when I was in school still; it can be hard to want to read when you already have to spend so much time having to read.

I read a lot of fiction/ sci / fantasy many in the 500 - 1 k page count range so i am not pushing 200.
reading 300 or less is like a short story lol.

Maybe 100 almost all rereads.
I just do not have faith that ppl will tell a story i am at all interested in, and i am long past slogging thru drek unless its to read a book a niece or nephew is reading.

I set a Goodreads goal to read 12 books. I finished 15

my goal was at least 1 book - I met that goal. I think maybe next year I'll raise the bar to maybe 5 books, and then 10, 20, 50, 100...

i don't have such goals for books, only for movies. i wanted to watch 500 movies this year but i fell down the rabbit hole of polish gameshows - but once they take my favourite one off air due to low rating i'll be back in my cinephile era

This year I was too busy, so I wasn't able to read books. I did finish 3 manga series, though.
But next year, I want to read at least 20 books.

I read a lot of audiobooks, because I'm walking my dog, and I listen to them when I'm running errands. I probably finish 1-2 physical reads each week, though. I'm an aggressive DNFer, which helps a lot. It's easy to read fast when it's enjoyable.

I finished Sanderson's Skyward series and Stormlight Archive this year (except for Wind and Truth, but that just came out), so my list is a mix of super long reads through to novellas. Currently working on VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy.

I get that though. I have authors who are day-one buys, and I'm always trying to find more reliable authors, so I always have something entertaining to read. Not everyone has Sanderson's output.

That's very sweet! If you do want to read more, I would suggest finding something that you really like, don't be afraid to drop a book if it's not interesting, and maybe start with something shorter. There are a lot of good novellas out these days.
