Do You Think Kpop Should Bring Back Simpler MVs?


One of the things I've always liked for MVs are ones that are less .... produced or done up with set design or intricate CGI.

I know a lot of people love the concepts and aesthetics able to be explored but for me....

Sometimes I want less polish. I want it to more..... Fun and natural. Just a camera and the members singing and dancing or goofing off.

There's something to be said for simplicity. I find it charming. And often, in an era where the trend is for more and more elaboration and complexity.... I find it immensely refreshing.


Simple less sophisticated music videos are my all time favorite.

I think it would be cool to see BLACKPINK do a simple MV.

To see them in a less done up light than they are usually presented.

I wouldn't mind if they went back to simpler MVs.
A lot of MVs nowadays follow the same pattern.
Stare at a rose or a crystal. There's no originality to it.
I mean given the high quality of it but that's about all.
They're enjoyable to watch but I think going for something
simple too could really do groups justice.

Funny you posted this cause I was just about to make a thread about how I'm not into any of this new kpop. The music, the videos, the aesthetic. Everything. I haven't liked anything kpop related since Limesoda Wave.

I'm just not feeling it man.

But to your point. 4 Walls is f(x) most boring music video cause they tried to be artsy. I lot of people liked it but I'd just rather watch the lives with the dance performance.

Speaking of. Did you ever watch Girls Day "Expectation "? That's a classic example of the videos you are wanting to return to.

Nah I like the more interesting ones. If I want something simpler there's dance versions, which are usually enough for me and manage to combine simplicity but beauty.

I love MV in a box some of my most watched mv's .

I do like some simple mv's but I am obsessed with imaginary and aesthetics.
my perfect mv is pretty much Dean's instagram. a beauty in black and white, powerful message with song and mv.
