everything debut in 2007 when SM start to tease snsd as the "female super junior " saying that “The group SNSD is meant to hope for a peaceful era of girls, and will be showcasing different talents in English, Chinese, Japanese, singing, acting, talent, MC, DJ, and modeling.”

after the first group picture Knetz didn't wait to share their opinion about the Girlgroup :

▬ Female Super Junior… It’s obvious. They won’t be able to sing and they’ll just go around all huddled up together trying to figure out a way to make it. They’ll fail and some of them will quit to become actresses.. SM has turned K-pop into trash

▬ I don’t think they’ll become popular.. Super Junior is male so they have female fans, but a girl group like this will fail -ㅅ-

▬ SNSD? Eh, they don’t look very promising .. It seems like the concept was innocence. They don’t even look like celebrities here. There are so many normal girls on the street who are prettier than them, but can they even sing? Are they even singers? No one stands out either

▬ SNSD is going to fail. Why?? It’s because Jessica is in the group. I was looking at a video of her and Hyoyeon, and it’s so easy to see how Jessica doesn’t even compare to Hyoyeon––ㅋShe tries to do a wave she cannot do, and what is she going to do about her thigh fat and muffin top…And what kind of name is SNSD? It sounds like a drama ㅋㅋㅋSo tacky

▬ This girl group is really a historical girl group in Korea already.. They haven’t even debuted yet but they have anticafes and there are so many antis…..


Many group start to have support and compliment after their debut but it was not the case for SNSD

In 2008, they participate in the Dream concert with other Group like Wonder girls, Super junior, TVXQ.... and one of the most infamous accident happen, The black ocean
where all the other fandom turn off their lightstick to protest against snsd, Boy group fans boycott snsd for being too close from their oppa while Wonder girls fans turn off their light to protest against SNSD who was see as the direct competitor of Wonder girls at that time.
All fandoms were in silent. But, when SNSD performed the song Girls’ Generation, there were some fandoms who shouted for “Wonder Girls”, not “So Nyeo Shi Dae”. There were even some people who shouted “Plastic Generation”. Taeyeon and Jessica who sang the most parts of the song were trying hard to hold back tears, while Tiffany, Sunny and Yoona had teary eyes, but still tried to smile.



Many people think that this is the only accident where people show hate to SNSD but another similar accident happen in China during Smtown where the public start to make X with their lightstick when SNSD was on stage to show their hate for them.

If all this accident can look like SNSD will never be popular and they'll never be able to make it big

The ascent to the top of the pyramid

SNSD turn the situation in their favor.
In 2009 after the release of two very successfull songs tell me and So hot by Wonder girls, every people consider Wonder girls as the GG who will make history in kpop and who will reign on Kpop for GG.
but SNSD take by storm Korea when they release in 2009 what will become one of the Biggest Kpop song ever, Gee.



the song will break every record internationnaly on youtube



the song became the most broadcasted in history in South korea
The song is choose as the song of the decade by Melon
In 2009, Gee topped Melon for a total of 8 weeks, a record yet to be broken ( at the moment the article was write i don't know if it's still the case)
Gee topped the Oricon Daily Chart in 2010, the first song by a foreign asian girl group to do so
With at least 6.75 million pure sales worldwide, Gee is the most downloaded girl group song of all time

With One song SNSD take Korea by storm and take the spot in top of the pyramid for GG that Wonder girls take 2 big hit to cement.

Only this song was already a big clue of how popular SNSD will become and How much they'll leave their mark in South korea history

The rest is just history !!

In less than 2 years SNSD success to still the spotlight for GG in korea and change the opinion that the public had of them
and become one of the greatest treasure for Koreans


Let's end this long article on this sweet revenge of SNSD when they make history after 25 years by becoming the First and only GG to win the disk daesang at the Golden disk award after all the pain they had to reach the top

I think we are sure enough to say that Snsd is the Group from big 3 who was the most hated at their debut and become in less than 2 years the GG who was doing laws in Korea

most sm groups always get hate when they debut. with snsd, suju, exo, rv, and now nct (i still remember those people hating on fx and saying the only reason they're famous is cause krystal is sica's sister). yg and jyp get hype from the get-go and even won daesangs with their debut while sm groups are always called flops just cause their company took a risk and actually tried to be innovative with their concepts and members. take itzy for example, despite people saying they didnt like dalla dalla, it still did well in charts/weekly shows and itzy has tons of fans supporting them. sm havent even debuted a gg yet people are already calling them flops and they cant catch up with the monster ggs debuting.
