Groups that are more popular in SK than internationally? (1 Viewer)

Anyway, here are some groups who are decent to pretty famous in Korea but not so much internationally, or atleast their i-fandom is pretty tiny compared to the domestic fandom.

1. BTOB
2. Oh My Girl
3. Lovelyz
4. The Boyz (although i-fandom growing post RTK)
5. ONF
6. Golden Child
7. Apink
8. Nu'est
9. Astro
10. Winner

I love Winner, but they really do seem weirdly not-so-popular (I don´t want to say unpopular) compared to how long ago they have debuted and how good they are.
I feel horrible for not listening to BTOB since Peniel is such a great guy and a real sunshine from all the Eric Nam´s podcasts I have seen. I feel like listening my sins away :D.
It really feels like international fans just love those huge expensive concepts instead of more ... chill ..groups.

I am confused lol, are you saying they're more popular in Korea than internationally? Coz except Chuu and maybe Heejin/Yves to a lesser degree, they're pretty much nugus there
Most of their sales comes from abroad and they can barely chart in any Korean charts, but they do exceptionally well in iTunes globally. They have the 2nd highest iTunes #1s among all girl groups, 2nd only to BP.

they are def more popular in Japan--- and America. But thats all I can say

Yeah Winner always does well digitally and are popular with the gp but their fandom is mostly only Korean, and smaller compared to other bgs so their sales aren't that impressive
BTOB is the same, these groups can pull massive numbers in concerts and tours locally but internationally you'd think SKZ, Ateez, GOT7, Monsta X are bigger, although in Korea they're not.

so i went on to search for btob on youtube, seems I know at least one song and omg, guys are romantics awwww, who would have guessed :D. that´s what I have always thought about GOT7 ... that they are just not as popular as they might seem? and that´s not a diss, they were/are a good band, they can just fake it till they make it :D.

Yeah I mean in the West and esp in SEA, GOT7 are easily one of the most popular lol. But in Korea, they'd fall behind a lot of other groups imo
SKZ is the same so far. It's not like 2PM who were very popular domestically

2PM oh yes! as I am more into "older" groups I do come around them quite often. the well known group for their hard choreographies. I mean they are HUGE in SK, legends almost. Day6 Brian said how he just wanted to be like them during trainee days while people hardly ever talk about them.

2 pm and GOD are the jyp bg that Korean folks know.

They may know Jackson from got 7 but that is it.

i don't know about now since most of my faves have disbanded or inactive (2nd gen stan problems ) but B1A4 used to be really really popular they even beat most top groups on the charts, their music was really cute and refreshing and the members are adorable.
