Sensitive If the lineup for X1 was different, would they have still been popular? (1 Viewer)

Idk how to word my question so let me explain:

I've been thinking of the Produce scandal lately. I'm not sure why but X1's situation has piqued my interest despite it being nearly four years old. I think it's because of how preventable it was? Anyways, let's say a few members were swapped, rigged or not. Would they have still debuted with such clout??? Even better, let's say the lineup wasn't rigged at all. Would they have the same popularity as the X1 we got? More, less?

On one hand I'm saying, relatively yeah. All the members who were and would've been in X1 all had strong fanbases by the final episode of PDX101, so they would've debuted with the same level of popularity. And if the lineup was not rigged at all then PDX101 would've put the most popular members in X1, hence maximizing the popularity (profitability, if you will) off the group.
But I also know that the lineup of X1 we got is very much a well-rounded one. Without the produce scandal then they would've been the perfect group with the most perfect line of members. I sound like I'm exaggerating but I'm not. All the members were popular and talented, and in theory they would've improved their popularity and talents if the group wasn't prematurely disbanded. But so would've a different lineup??? God damn.

Sorry if this post opened up any healed wounds or if I'm sounding inhumane towards the past members. I've just been thinking about this a lot.

If the answer is a yes then that goes to show how shallow the K-pop industry is. If the answer is a no then that must mean X1 really were something special.

I know the Wanna One rigged out list was released, and Baekho of Nu'est was one of them. Wanna One was a top 3rd gen group and would have been up there with BTS and Exo had they continued rather than disbanding as a temp group, but would have been even more popular with Baekho though, as he was extremely popular on the show and considered very talented too, as well as people liking his visuals. Idr if JR was rigged out too. But Baekho was actually rigged out by Pledis, cuz they didn't want too many Nu'est members in the group (ig so they could still promote as Nu'est W? idk)

I do remember I think it was Jungmo Jinhyuk and Keum that got rigged out specifically towards the end and they were all immensely popular. However at the same time members like Minhee and Hangyul that consistently placed lower in the actual show became insanely popular upon debut like if you see X1 perform the screaming for some of the lower placing members is unreal. From my knowledge of one its internationally a lot of them had around the same amount of popularity except for the obvious Wooseok Yohan ish boys. I don't think I can definitively say that one lineup would be more popular than the other. There are too many variables since I know the three that got rigged out bc of other content and theyre very talented but so are all of the X1 members

I have to say that even though I'm very biased since they're one of my ult groups that I don't think it's fair to have X1 disbanded. It is completely unfair to the other trainees yes but I would never want it taken out on the trainees that got in bc of rigging. I don't believe in punishing them for the companies mistakes. If anything produce should've properly compensated the trainees that were affected by it. I never wished for IZONE to disband nor Wanna One despite both of their seasons also having problems with rigging just because they're victims of the companies like the others are

Great answer! From my experience I don't remember hearing much bout Minhee from pd but a lot when he finally debuted.

They eliminated a few trainees who shouldn't have been eliminated even before they got get to the stages deciding the top 11, there could have been even more that didn't make it. Kookheon for example, was very popular and known for his vocals, and he was in MyTeen. MyTeen could have really used him making it further, just like Nu'est, Victon, benefitted

Well Iz*one had less rigged members than X1, and X1 had barely debuted, had had no comebacks when they disbanded, and Iz*one did disband earlier than they were supposed to originally because of the scandal, just not immediately

I think since they were already saying who should have made it and didn't and compensating them, but couldn't reveal who was unfairly in the group, bc it would tarnish their reputation, and although they didn't deserve their place since it's a survival show group, it's the company's fault not theirs, it did seem to make the most sense to disband them. Regardless of who was rigged in or not, the X1 members who redebuted after have still had a following, so I think they were able to keep the fanbase they gained

But yeah, it was a mess

As far as skill and having a well-rounded lineup goes, having Jungmo as a main or lead vocalist wouldn't have hurt the group at all, neither would the other Up10tion member as part of the rapline, looks like Donghyun is main dancer in Epex, so they would've had all 3 bases covered and still had a well-rounded lineup

So neither skill-wise nor popularity wise (as being rigged out means they were popular enough to get it) do I think they would have suffered

I don't think we can ever bring true justice to the scandal. Best case scearnio are the rigged out members getting a unit on their own but well we're in the future now.

I am glad I can see Jungmo existing happily in cravity with the rest of them since I think he works in cravity so well but I wish he got a big wad of cash and his own tv show for what they did to him

Jungmo's like the head voice of Cravity while Woobin's chest. Yin-yang. All the members in Cravity can sing amazingly but Jungmo's head voice >>>>>>>>. mmmmmmmmm out of this world

The companies wanted the members back from x1, i thought they should have stuck it out not enough really care about the rigging.

Heck Fromis 9 is darn near all fake, did any one really care. Didnt stop Hybe from buying em up.

As to the members who did not get in the group, pretty sure Kaeun and Chowon's(agencies lol) got a check that was similar to the members ( agency) checks.

The same may have happened in x1.

although i think pd 48 was rigged to avoid exactly what happened to girls planet 999. who had to bend over backwards and really really toy with the system to get the 3 non Koreans that they got.

First, IZ*ONE only had five months left on their contract anyways when the scandal broke out. Like some people said, their promotions were cut short after it and we only got the comeback they prepared before the rigging controversy
Sure, it's unfair that X1 had to disband, because it’s not their fault. But what good would it have brought if IZ*ONE also disbanded? Would it have made you happier? They also suffered greatly from it, but they were also a victim from MNET as X1 was
