True true but I still think it's unfair that x1 disbanded while izone didn't. That's just me though.

And yeah understandable. All the trainees in the final round, from what I know, are talented and are great visuals. I guess X1 would've been fine

I think it depended on a lot of things, like X1's contract was way longer than Iz*one's, and the rigged out members would also have to suffer much longer when the group had barely started. And while Iz*one was more established, X1 was new, hadn't released many original songs (not from the show I mean) or had time to establish as much of a team dynamic as if they had promoted together longer, and would have suffered a big loss of popularity and possibly a boycott based on the reactions at the time

It was the companies themselves (that the trainees were under) who jointly decided to disband X1, rather than CJ, maybe bc it would also be easier for them to debut a group with other trainees, particularly if they had other trainees on the show who didn't make the group, like Drippin', and might have debuted soon anyways rather than waiting 5 years for the others in X1 to join. Whereas Iz*one, since they had been a group for over a year, and also had time left in their contract, plus an extension planned due to their popularity (which did not happen bc of the scandal) the company probably did not have a lineup immediately planned for a group including the members who were in Iz*one.

While the trainees rigged out should have been compensated more, and the ones who got in fairly suffered from the disbanding, since the trainees rigged in didn't have their names released, for them specifically I don't think disbanding X1 was punishing them for the actions of the company. It wasn't a punishment, it was what would have happened (not being in X1) normally if the show were not rigged. Rather, them continuing as X1 would have been an extra priviledge they got.

The ones who did fairly make it and weren't rigged out can't be compensated for the disbandment without the ones who are rigged in's names being revealed by elimination, so that side is really a mess though, and all decisions would have had negative consequences, whether it was disbanding X1 immediately, or continuing with the same lineup and just compensating all trainees rigged out (a whooping 6 including those rigged out even before the finals when they were supposed to make it to them)

They had more that that.
Everything went to he.. just before the original Bloom IZ comeback. It looked like for 3 months that they would kill the group in 2019 after 1 year. The awards shows froze em out and they did not get to go to japan

Heck Fromis 9 is darn near all fake, did any one really care. Didnt stop Hybe from buying em up.

As to the members who did not get in the group, pretty sure Kaeun and Chowon's(agencies lol) got a check that was similar to the members ( agency) checks.

The same may have happened in x1.

although i think pd 48 was rigged to avoid exactly what happened to girls planet 999. who had to bend over backwards and really really toy with the system to get the 3 non Koreans that they got.

I think what I'm stating is being taken the wrong way. I think it's ethically wrong that one group had to suffer the consequences of premature disbandment whilst the other didn't. That's not me saying I don't like izone or I was also wishing for their disbandment as well. Ultimately I'm happy they stuck through because panorama and mise en scene are one of my favourite songs of the 4th gen.

Agreed largely with what you said. There was no solution for the fuckery the companies did. There's like no fair solution to anyone of this, no matter how much we brainstorm.

I don't think the well roundedness of the group was a problem here bc we had a lead vocal in current group (jungmo, and neither seungyoun nor seungwoo were mains in their og groups), a main rapper, and a main dancer rigged out, but for not having to force a lineup for that, some survival shows group the trainees into vocal, rap, and dance categories, and eliminate from there in the initial stages, and guaranteeing a well-rounded lineup

Fromis as well is different from x1 disbanding because they are a permanent group despite the rigging, and they would never debut under a different label with trainees who didn't make the lineup whereas x1 and iz*one would and did eventually, so that situation with the rigged out members being compensated and them continuing was the best decision and vastly different from the produce groups

if i remember right it was really just 1 or 2 companies who wanted to kill the group.
the members were all keen to go on.
But given that Covid hit shortly there after it could have gone either way.

Something that I saw people saying about Kep1er vs. IZ*One is that part of the reason the group is underperforming is because Mnet could rig the lineup the way they wanted... at least not directly anyways.

With kpop groups, everything is planned meticulously in advance (at least, the more successful or praised ones are anyways...). I do think Kep1er not not being picked by Mnet directly did play a hand in how they haven't been managed well since they couldn't prepare that much for the lineup and couldn't craft things the way they wanted.

However, that being said, Kep1er has done things that worked for them (like MVSK and Up!), even if their early stuff didn't work 100%, Wakeone should have took notice of what did work and crafted something carefully based on that. Instead, it feels like they don't know what to do with the group and throw things at the wall. So I don't believe not being able to rig the lineup is 100% the problem with Kep1er. It is likely a factor however in their rough start.

I think X1's debut was a smash and well crafted. With a different lineup, it's possible things may have been rougher... it's also possible it might not have been. We don't know. I do think like with Kep1er, they would have a harder time really planning things advance. That doesn't mean X1 with an unrigged lineup's debut would turn out messy. It's possible they might have been able to overcome that despite the difficulties.

I do also think given produce x 101 was highly anticipated and hyped, that would continue regardless if the lineup was rigged or not and would definitely make the group very successful regardless. How successful? Hard to say. It's hard to speculate.

At least with an unrigged lineup, the controversy wouldn't have happened and X1 would have had an opportunity to potentially make an even bigger mark in kpop. It seems with the rigged lineup, X1 never had the chance to do that....
