I think Zimzalabim is awesome.

I was listening to Dumb Dumb (another favorite of mine) the other day, and thought that was just as jarring and surprising as Zimzalabim.

Plus it's a summer song ppl expect childhish, fresh, simple song in summer that's why ppl are not criticize for this type of song if they released it in the summer
Girl's day also have this "childish cute" song with darling but ppl don't care because it's what people want in summer something cute, fresh, simple

While in contrary twice is stick to this image the entire year and not just during summer
And even if they release break something they are still consider as a one dimension gg

And uu was not more childish than what twice used us to hear for the past 3 years with likey, signal, etc...
And twice didn't win their childish image because of one song but because of 3 year of cute song
Rv are not releasing the same cute stuff for the 3 past years

Because yes it's not one song who will change your image
And even with them "experiencing" more mature concept it was still very childish musically with always this poppy instru, high pitch vocal who is suppose to be cute etc....
They only wear black and call it a more mature concept

I can get Sones having their fair share of issues with Twice and Onces, not gonna deny that I had quite a few myself but their concepts should definitely not be one.
That's a direct slap in the face of Soshi who, by your logic, would be considered 1 dimensional. When SNSD was at the same point that Twice was in their career, they were still releasing music even cuter and girlier than Twice and continued to do so throughout their career. Bubblegum pop was still their signature sound in Korea until 8 years in when they graduated to color pop, aka what Twice is doing now
Twice is experimenting and gradually changing their sound. They will be just fine

At the end of the day, for me, both groups have been releasing horrendous music throughout the year. My standards for both of them has severely dropped. Fancy was an auto tune mess. ZBB doesn't deserve to be called music. Happy Happy, Breakthrough and Umpah Umpah embody the word mediocre.

To answer the OP's question, if TWICE did release Umpah Umpah, they would probably top Melon in contrary to RV who plummeted down the charts.

I would strongly disagree with all of this ITNW, genie, rdr The boys and IGAB are no where near bubble gum. By the end of 2009 and especially 2010 in japan they only dabbled in bubble gum.
Twice is entering their 5th year thats the boys mr taxi paparazzi all the ballad videos from the first J album.

As far as RDR, the MV is a lot darker than the actual song. Compare it to actual girl crush songs from that era like 2ne1 and T-ara and there's a lot to be desired.

Genie was a slight change. Just like Signal and Fancy
RDR was a step in the right direction. Just like breakthrough

Nah Fancy is pretty much still Bubblegum Pop. TWICE hasn't really changed anything. However, I will anticipate their new release this September, which they say will be something actually different. The composition and arrangement of Fancy is not that different to their past songs. All they did was get a darker wardrobe and called it a "mature concept". Maturity is Oh! to Run Devil Run. Aesthetically mature but also sonically. They key of RDR is lower than Oh! so SNSD did not have to sing in high pitched voices anymore. The same can be said about Hoot, which was released in that year.

Look, if ONCES continue to love TWICE's music just the way it is, that's perfect. In the end, idol groups have to cater to their audience. GFriend have made the 4 different versions of Rough. TFTMN, Memoria and Sunrise. But, I LOVE all of them, individually. I even go as far as to say each of them are some of my favorite Kpop songs ever. However, it would be shameless of me to say GF's music has matured or evolved because it hasn't and that's just fact. We can say they're experimenting now and evolving with the release of Fever. The same goes for TWICE, September could be a turning point in their music, we'll have to see. But, for now, nothing's changed.
