Exactly. I'd rather enjoy the original flavour without altering it! Chili is meant for tacos in my hood!

Oh I meant does that mean hot chocolate itself is a no even without the chili because it’s altered chocolate (occasionally for Americans).

The one I found with it was from my Mexican cookbook, I think it was historically popular in some of that area? Like the original/one of the original versions of hot chocolate included chili I believe. It probably got omitted later on when the Europeans arrived and were introduced to cocoa plants. As to it's popularly now I'm not sure which areas often drink it that way, I'd imagine it's around in some parts of Mexico if it's in that cookbook but I don't know how many parts of Mexico.

Does hot chocolate that's made with chili peppers sound good or gross? The chili pepper isn't mashed or in chunks or anything, it's added to the liquid and removed later on. I know most will think it's gross but I'm more curious at the ratio of people who find it good to eh to gross

I don’t find it gross cuz it’s the original chocolate drink and I’ve known about it since I was 9

the mayas also added chilies in their chocolate drinks long before hot chocolate was invested

like i said, i want the original stuff! Nothing else thrown in! The only things i mix in my life are Vodka and OJ!

Are you sure it was the Aztecs? I thought it dates to at least 500 BCE with the Mayans, which predates the Aztecs by a lot.
