That’s what some SM stans are saying about people who stan NewJeans after they pre-released 3 songs. They think it’s “too soon”.

But weren’t these same people stanning SMNGG/White Fox years before they could potentially debut and even stanned trainee Lami who was like 10 years old at the time. Lami’s fandom was HUGE among SM stans. Like what are these double standards.

I think its problematic to stan ANY group before they debut. How can you already say they are your favorite group if they haven't even performed live or released an album yet lol.

Well if there's one thing Garam proved it's that people legitimately get worryingly attached to idols in no time at all. She was an idol for a whopping 17 days of which she did basically nothing because it was plagued by the bullying scandal and when she was kicked people were talking about missing her when they don't even know a potentially fake personality for her

Just goes to show that people build up their own ideas of how idols actually are and those people potentially getting attached to teenagers is unsettling

uh... I don't know about most people.. but I don't feel sexual feelings for idols. So stanning wouldn't be weird. But I would be uncomfortable if underage female idols were wearing clothing that was inappropriate for their age.

but @Drew_B I think the youngest in any group I stan is Lucy who won't be 20 until end of August. So none of the girls in my favorite groups are underage. But honestly the groups I have in my sig are not the newest. lol

NewJean's success exposed the true face of kpop fans. Almost right after NewJeans broke a 1st day sales record, beating Aespa, there has been a ton of posts from people accusing their CEO of being a pedophile. She worked with SM for years, and while some of her aesthetics preferences are odd, really focusing on youth and even some controversial topics, she has done nothing that could be considered pedophilic. We have literal sexual deviants and predators like Seungri and Kris who still get defended daily by fans. Yet a bunch of antis popped out of the woodwork making serious accusations just to destroy the careers of 5 girls because they felt threatened by their success.
