News Keyakizaka46 to release last single before name change + rebranding [Keyakizaka = Techizaka] (2 Viewers)

Keyakizaka46 announced at their online concert that they will have their last concert in october, after which they will change their name and rebrand.
Keyaki's last single will be released in august.



Fans speculate the new name will be Sakurazaka46 as that name has been trademarked + in the background of their online concert there was also pink flags.

This is.... This really confirms for once and for all, Keyaki was always and will stay as Techizaka46. I can kind of understand why management wouldn't want to oerate under Techi's shadow and always have people compare the centers to Techi etc... I can only hope whatever new concept they end u going for, it won't be too different from Keyaki's angsty one, since it is what first drew me to them.

I saw it on Twitter and I also had a discussion on it. Management were deluded to think that a group with so many members could only be promoted by one person only: Techi.

If they had swapped center role, we wouldn't need a name change.

P.S: They were a lot of graduation and frustrations between the time Techi was there, the fact that even she left without graduating makes me believe there might be something bigger than that. Something probably happened internally.

Yeah everybody agrees that having Techi as center for so long was a BAD idea..... but I do think it is the right decision to rebrand now, because fighting to get out of Techi's shadow is more trouble than it is worth.

btw, who do you think will be the next centre? I'm hoping for Ten-chan esp. after seeing how well she performed in this online concert. Her expressions esp. were on point.

Oh she didn't attend handshakes at all by the end.
but she was the most popular BY FAR

She was the only member the general japanese public recognized.

Even with Ssahi that dominant she was not center for hkt , front 3 mostly but they really push 4-8 girls depending on gen.
HKT is still new enough that they are in a good place gen wise but its really Meru , Miku, Hana, with Anna and the captains
Yurikin, Yui and Min really carry akb only units and that is not good all are announced to leave.
Nana has the skill and o Yui is pretty but its not captivating.
just picture that last set on tv (the covid song and the summer songs) with out the 1,3,9 gen stars

Tbh I like Keyaki's music the most out of all the 48 and 46 groups, it has this energy to it that I just adore.

i really wonder just how much money they make.
i read a few years back that senbatsu members made like 7-8 k a month....
she had to think she can make more out of the group because giving that up would be silly otherwise.
