News KQ Entertainment responds to reports that My Teen Girl song plagiarized Ateez Wave (1 Viewer)

After a group of contestants performed the song “SUN” in the first round of the finale for MBC’s “My Teen Girl” on February 27, the agency received multiple reports through official channels and emails that the chorus melody of the song copied the chorus melody of ATEEZ’s “Wave,” which was released in 2019.

The agency reviewed the information and found that in the credits of the song “SUN,” the agency’s producing team, Eden-ary, was listed there.

We would like to state clearly here that there was no prior discussion about this with Eden-ary or with us, the agency.

With the goal of respecting the inherent work of creators, we ask people to refrain from reckless speculation and stop false reports in their tracks.

Yea I can see the similarities in the chorus; Not blaming anyone until more news comes out tho; I don't think the group is guilty it's more on the production team, but even though it does sound similar doesn't mean it was copyrighted, but there is some heavy evidence of borrowing from ATEEZ's song

i found it unwatchable. Mostly because of the format ..
none of the show really mattered 6 of the 7 winners were top vote getter from the 2nd vote on no matter if they were in the 'debut ' team or not.

Well Soyeon and Cube already apologised and said they acknowledged the similarity enough to give credit to the original artists although they weren't cool with being added to it

true, i remember there being outrage over the fact that ive's younger member is 14 y/o but at the same time people tuned into this show. at this point the kpop industry is never going to improve with their treatment of literal children (despite the word "teenage" in its title) if people keep supporting in the way they did it here.
