College Statistics requires passing Algebra-2... College Statistics is often required to complete a senior project also known as a thesis. If you use SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) you don't need to know the equations, but... in most universities you are expected to pass College Statistics before they let you conduct quantitative research. But other statistical programs, such as SAS will require you to input the formulas...

running the program isn't even the hard part. Its getting statistical graphs that have too many indicators to fit into a word doc even when it is too big for landscape mode. . . Oh Jesus I forgot what these are called, but I had to have a million of these in my appendix for my thesis and copying them into word was hard when it was a direct copy instead of an image... lmao.

cs and math.
started uni as chem e.... took awhile to decide what i want to be as i grew up.
many many hours in math/ cs/ assorted eng/ science.
lots o other stuff( history religion ect ) close to a few minors.
I really disagree with much of the hyper focus of todays uni let alone the content.

many of the real innovators / creators of the past had at least 2 majors. Usually very disparate fields. They learned to think not recite.

True. Having entire programs in queer theory or feminism is frankly a waste when students at a lot of these schools are paying $40k a year. Unlike having a degree in a core subject like Philosophy, Poli-Sci, or Sociology, having a degree in a field of philosophy that is extremely modern and specific will limit the scope of one's opportunities and even viewpoints. For instance, a sociologist could have a range of viewpoints based on social theory that doesn't pigeonhole them into a gender specific view of the world. As such a sociologist [theoretically] could be pro-life, while someone with a degree in Women's Studies would not be, given the politics that are interwoven into Women's studies programs. Also, a person with a degree in sociology would likely have insights into criminology, symbols, poverty, and social problems that provide room for disagreement.

But yeah I'm grateful to get my undergrad started in a rural environment that was not tainted by the way they are structuring degree programs now. Heck, one of my history professors had tea with the Queen, but that's a minor digression. lol

i went back to school later and i was having none of that stuff.

lol in my WS class it was over 2 hrs and we had to do a group presentation ( i got why women make less) my group imploded, but i attacked the premise (ie that it was because of discrimination ) with ivy league/ their own data and took the whole class time answered questions ect. (the teacher wanted a copy and permission to use it) kids were walking out saying we gotta match that.

It consistently cracked me up how folks thought those l A classes were hard. (my GS gpa is like > 3.95 ) and its not like i went crazy.

The school and the advisors wanted me to be a teacher ( and i have generations of teaching in the family ) but its not worth the hassle now.
But i would have loved to teach history or math both of which i feel they teach wrong k-12, 7-12 especially.

I just tutor my N and N when they ask.

lol. I had this prof who was anti radical feminism and she told me she had a prof in the 80s who was so anti-male that she was for the abortion of male fetuses... I think 95 percent of feminists would agree that that was an extreme position. lol. But I did spend a lot of time being mentored by a prof (at least 120 hours within the span of two years) who was a Marxist... yet having a household income of $80k... so...

Its supposed to teach you to think sequentially. To teach problem solving.
Why they used to really lean into story problems.

stuff like trig geometry and formula laden concepts are for specific use. for skilled jobs. or tools for further math learning.
