this is how I mainly started with SNH48, not sure about how receptive AKB fans are in comparison, but a lot of the older fans have CuriousCats: it's nice since they tend to know more about the girls and some of the history
for snh, I just vaguely watched some stages and noted down the girls I liked, and hunted for twitter accounts that tweet often about them lmao

Thats actually helpful. Not that I use Twitter, but I do have Insta...

...... Well there are like what 80+ members..

lol haha sorry was laughing hard.
AKB its self has close to that.
As of September 2020, AKB48 has 91 members, plus 8 Kenkyuusei(read they work but are not full members kinda an apprenticeship) and 1 member in IZONE.

Spoiler: better info

but say most singles will pull from all the Japanese sister groups.

Each group represent a City in Japan or world wide. Where they have a theater and do daily shows.

That is AKB teams A K B 4 (Tokyo)and 8 (team 8 is one girls from each prefecture) (many team 8 girls are also filling spots in teams A K B and 4) This was a change made in 2017 as they canceled Japanese sister group membership in the Main akb groups. (mostly because they need new stars in AKB proper )
SKE 48 - Nagoya -- As of December 2019, SKE48 currently has 48 members and 29 Kenkyuusei.
NMB 48 - Osaka -- As of October 2020, NMB48 currently has 42 members and 13 Kenkyuusei.
HKT 48 - Fukuoka --- As of October 2020, HKT48 has 37 active members, 13 Kenkyuusei and 2 members in IZONE.
NGT 48 - Niigata -- As of April 2020, NGT48 currently has 13 members, 17 kenkyuuseis. NGT had a huge scandal and it has spilled onto the entire AKS system. To the point that a major showpiece of the group the yearly election has not been held since 2018.
STU 48 - Setouchi -- As of April 2020, STU48 currently has 21 members, 1 Kennin, and 23 Kenkyuusei. Groups theater is on a boat and used to move around.

the last single for example had these members. the girl in red was the center.
all of the Japanese sister groups are represented.

So when people say AKB 48 it can really mean all of japan depending on context.

this is a thread jack so we can move this else where if you want more.

lol haha sorry was laughing hard.

no worries

this is thread jack so we can move this else where if you want more.

The information is good... But if we want to talk about thread jacking I think we should discuss the fact that I turned @Mr_Boogie thread about f(x) "baseball" cards into asking about his sexuality.. lol

The day already passed in Japan.
