I'm pretty sure I know what she means, but I'm not positive. She's filling up her tub with water to take a bath, as one does. She originally wanted the bath to be halfway full of water? Why only halfway full? Well, if the water level is too low, it's not a very enjoyable bath. If the water level is too high, when she goes to get in it, a lot of water will spill on the floor and cause a huge mess. This is due to water displacement. When you put an object of any kind in water, in this case Momo, the water has to go somewhere else to accommodate the object. In this case, the water would go around Momo and increase how full the tub appears to be, even though the amount of water hasn't changed, only what is in the water. I do understand what you mean, but would that not be true for any bath, ohterwise you would create a mess every time when you fill it to the brim

Well yes, if you fill it to the brim, then get in afterwards, there's a huge mess. If you fill it a few inches below the brim, you're probably fine (depending on how big you are, and the shape and size of the tub).
