i do disagree with this a little because kpop had given us some truly great rappers like gdragon and CL. yes you can argue that the 2nd gen birthed some rappers that are arguably better than the ones we have now but yeah. i do see people compliment singing and dancing more often than rapping tho

I heavily disagree. I think 2nd gen was especially weak when it comes to rappers. Why do you consider G-Dragon and CL great rappers? What makes a good rapper to you? This is not meant to sound aggressive, I'm genuinely curious

Gdragon and CL are naturally good and YG wasn't messing around when he picked them to debut in a group. they're immensely talented. even though i'm not huge on the whole rapping thing, and im not much of a fan of bigbang and 2ne1 even tho i listen to their music, these two are considered legendary and one of those reasons are their rapping skills. i think there's more to be just being good at rapping, you have to have that distinctive tone, immense stage presence, and etc. idk i feel a little conflicted because in a way i get what you're saying...but idk...gdragon and CL bring different vibes to the table. no hate to the rappers we have in kpop now, im not saying they're untalented. i guess you can say it depends on that group and the concept. because bigbang and 2ne1 had badass hip hop concepts which made sense and added to gdragon's and cl's rapping skills.

Yeah. It's the only place I speak. If I were ever on Twitter, I would've been doxxed 20 times over by now with the opinions I have lol

i'm never ever using twitter for discussion. reddit was my go to until i stopped using it because i experienced the same shit on there as i would on twitter and even discord. this place actually has a lot of decent people on here...and decent convos..:i'm kind of surprised

I don't wanna be one of those 'k-pop is too western' kinda people but there were kpop conventions that grew out of their western (and as another user mentioned on this thread, jpop) influences. Dramatic beat switches, big hooks and choruses, etc etc. Producers still implement these but because the trend is 'oh let's make background music for two minutes and make it slightly catchy but not breath-taking so people won't find it offensive to replay in the background' the lack things that have made kpop kpop in the past are just rarer and that sucks. Bring back innovation please!

There are many things I like about current k-pop especially this year's music but I want to be taken by majority of songs I hear and I just haven't.

I miss the FUN.
The crazy variety shows where a raft of idols would get together and do stuff.
Top idols.
it prob didnt make eh agencies teh money the new v live we verse does, but as a fan it was far more fun.
And as a side effect i learned about other groups.

Right!! Twice getting abducted by aliens only for the aliens to find them sooo annoying they bring them back. GD&TOP, Dara her palm tree hair, just crazyness which is weird because I'm a Blink and Blackpink never did anything that weird but it was the verity that made K-pop go global, now it seems like the big 4 (especially Hybe) is pushing the K-pop to be more American when most of their fanbase fled the American industry's... does that make sense
