NO lockdown in my country... (1 Viewer)

Our PM decided that a lockdown would not be effective unless it lasts for six months and decided against it. So only social gatherings/events of 100+ people are banned/cancelled and aside from that, no lockdown for Australia... Oh, they're also thinking to give students in primary school (prep to grade 6) less hours, so they proposed to remove Monday and Friday from the school week. Not sure what will be happening to high schools and unis. As far as I know, all schools are still running minus the ones that have had COVID-19 cases and universities depend on the school Presidents, I guess. My uni is planning to move all subjects online unless it has a compulsory lab (or similar) component even though the prime minister said we should all continue to attend (lol). For the labs, they're thinking to shorten the hours or separate them into different time slots. So my six hour lab is being shortened into two 90 minute slots with a break in between.

So yeh, no lockdown in Australia. And I'm not sure what to think about that lol. At least people can stop acting like the zombie apocalypse is happening now and I can actually go to the shops and find what I'm looking for in peace...

i think schools should be closed, thousands of students packing into classrooms is just gonna cause even more infections

I mean, I agree but our prime minister isn't very adequate. Can't wait till he's replaced. All the health professionals are saying the same thing but for whatever reasons, he's doing the opposite of what he should be doing.

It's not a worry. I just do not like debating and the broken promises by members of parliament is all.

Belgium made it worse. More than 3 people can't be in the same house (we're with four so I guess one of us has to sleep outside), you can only shop for 30 minutes, you don't get tickets for speeding and the police doesn't make any arrests (the Purge is real here people).
But teachers still need to watch kids but can't see their own grandchildren.
They also want to have a curfew and since they proposed it together with the ban on meetings (they only wanted no more than 10 people)
We really live in the apocalypse

I really don’t get why the PM is being this way.
Here in germany everything is closed besides necessary stores, we are advised to try to stay as much at home as we can too.

The same thing is happening in the UK. Boris made a whole statement on Friday saying everyone was to carry on as normal and no one needed to get tested even if they got sick because it caused unnecessary strain on our health services but then yesterday he had to make a complete U-turn after the World Health Organisation basically telling everyone to do the opposite of what he’d originally said.

Same. The only candidates I end up liking usually don't make it or are with the independent party.

My country is one of those leading in number of cases and we are not in a lockdown yet, no plans for future either.

In such cases, only you vould take care of yourself as well as the nation trying to encourage individuals to stay in their houses no matter how important their work is to them.
