douyin is tiktok in China (tiktok being the intl version of douyin)

Since most idols go through massive periods of time where they don’t have release or places to promote, they update a lot on douyin, making them kind of like douyin stars.

There is no system like in the Us, Japan or Korea.
Pretty sure rocket girls never had an album.
Tons and tons of osts .. now Aojuan is of doing more osts.
Meiqi had a solo i guess kinda a digital solo.

There's almost no where to really promote songs so it really doesn't make sense to do several comebacks year or anything, which is why so many cpop groups have more solo activities than group
the snh48 group is kind of different, but then again, it's based off the 48 franchise so it's a different story

But can't they just promote the groups like they promote the solo promotions? Like, I understand there might not be a bunch of idol centric shows in China but couldn't they just promote them like any other musical act like groups here in the west do? One Direction and Little Mix for example, they are groups but the UK doesn't have 'idols' like Korea and Japan so they just promote in the exact same way soloists do.

the pop scene I think in China (from what I understand) is a bit different, everything really depends on how established a group's fanbase is, and solo stans are quite common. it's normal that people stan a group solely for one member and it's not seen as odd (as long as you don't go into akgae territory). So ofc it makes more sense for the company to send them to individual projects instead of groups since they can earn more that way. tbh I don't keep up that much w western pop groups so I can't say much about them,
