NCT 127 is one of the sub-units of the boy group NCT, famously known for their eclectic, cutting-edge sound, dynamic vocals,
intricate choreography and stylish swagger. The group's name comes from the longitude of Seoul and reflects the group's global ethos,
rooted in a home base of Seoul. The group has 9 members, hailing from Korea, Japan, Canada and the United States: Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong,
Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan.

NCT 127 was the first fixed NCT unit and includes 5 of the 6 members of NCT's debut units for "The 7th Sense" and "Without You."
It is also the unit with the largest discography, ranging in a wide variety of styles from drill to moombahton to classic R&B to
electropop to trap to tropical house to hip hop to future bass. The majority of the disco is R&B and hip-hop focused, often
with lyrics written by members Taeyong and Mark.

127 FAQs

Aren't there like 20 million members in that group?
In the larger NCT group there are 22 active members. In this sub-unit, there are just 9. It is the largest NCT sub-unit.

Why do I see different members in different videos then?
The group debuted in 2016 with former SM Rookies Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark and Haechan.
In 2017, they added Johnny and Doyoung.
In 2018, Jungwoo joined the group and Winwin moved to WayV.
The line-up has been fixed since 2018, however, if you are watching content, Taeyong, Jungwoo and Haechan are missing for medical hiatuses at different points.

Didn't I see some of these members in another NCT unit?
All NCT members appear in the NCT U rotational unit, which varies by members that suit the song. So main vocalists appear on a ballad while performance-oriented members might appear on a dance-type song. Mark and Haechan are also the only members who appear in two of the fixed units, as they are also in NCT Dream.

I'm interested in NCT 127, where should I start?
The NCT 127 Killing Voice is one of the best places to start - members are singing live and running through a wide selection of songs across 6 years, including the b-sides we all talk about. This can also help you learn faces and roles. From l to r in the video, members are Johnny (tall on the end), Yuta (yellow hair), Haechan (pink hair), Taeyong (white hair), Jungwoo (tall, beige sweater, wavy hair), Taeil (short, tan shirt), Doyoung (tall, black jacket), Mark (black sweater, white shirt) and Jaehyun (the suit on the end).

NCT Life is a fun variety series with multiple seasons, but Fill It Up is a great series to start with the guys since it's not a competition-based series, just them hanging out, talking honestly and doing karaoke.

(On NCT Life, I'd recommend Seasons 1-3 and Season 11 in Gapyeong. The other seasons have content and references you'll see throughout the fandom but some of those seasons drag IMO).

Does 127 interact/know the other units?
Yes. Obviously members debuted at different times, but many NCT members have overlapping training times and maintain friendships outside their units. Jungwoo, for example, trained with the members of WayV, Sungchan, Shotaro and the SM Rookies. Most of the other members trained and performed with NCT Dream in the pre-debut group SM Rookies. As one of the first units, and with many older members at debut, they are often seen as the "big brothers" in NCT.

They say 127 is the international unit. Do all the members speak multiple languages?
Yes, with varying degrees of fluency. All members speak Korean - even the non-native speakers are highly fluent. All the members speak English to varying degrees - Johnny and Mark are native speakers, while Jaehyun is highly fluent, Taeyong and Doyoung moderately fluent, Yuta and Haechan somewhat fluent and Jungwoo and Taeil know some limited amounts. You will often see Johnny quietly translating for the group to help clarify questions. Yuta is a native speaker of Japanese, while Taeyong, Doyoung and Jaehyun are moderate to highly fluent. There is also a smattering of limited knowledge of other languages, including Mandarin and Spanish.
