ohhh i've seen this video !! i love this channel i agree with most points, but one thing about concepts is that each era something different is popular and generally we get oversaturated with the most popular concept that era, be it a cute concept, girl crush concept, sexy concept, etc.

stan gwsn for something different, concept wise and musically !!

Its not hard many groups are style over substance, because that has worked spectacularly for some group be cool /bad like yall said up thread.
They all want a piece of the pie.
But very very very few are trying to grow the pie.

Ya have performance groups, vocal /performance groups, some preforming vocal groups. some go fun others hard.

although its a stretch to put rocket punch, weeekly with idle, itcy, eleris, and everclear ect.

Basically its kpop catering to the you tube audience not really a solid business plan.

Girl crush is the worst concept trend to me just because more often than not the groups who do it just produce some noisy unlistenable track that would make 3 minutes of nails on a chalkboard sound more pleasing to listen to.

I'd rather have cute or innocent trend because the weaker songs of it were at worst just boring but it also gave a better output for top songs than I feel that girl crush tends to.

I do think that overall the sexy concept had the best output for really good songs but it obviously is not good to trend because of how the industry is so if I had to pick something to trend then i'd probably pick retro since stuff like La Di Da, Mago and even Dynamite were all pretty enjoyable.

Now that we have an abundance of girl crush groups (which everyone wanted years ago), now its a problem. funny to see.

yeah I find it somewhat hypocritical to point fingers at 4th gen when it was pretty much the same with other generations, but with different concepts
like i don't enjoy teen pop or whatever reimagining of f(x)'s sound jyp failed to emulate but the same was said in 3rd gen a lot

I think for me as i really have disliked most gc groups from the very beginning ( read 21 4 min hyuna ect) and like how apink proved it was fine to be them. I liked the gfriend lovelyz omg april 's of the world, and would have liked twice were it not for be a star being the song they preformed that week. /em shudder.

Bp and the wanna be bp's will never be my thing. Does not help that most are private/boarding school kids and so far away from tough it is a joke, so they start at a huge disadvantage.

Doesn't mean anything about the kids but the vast majority of the music and the styling of the vocals is unpleasant. i guess it boils down to is it fun.

We Me for example can be really fun, hands up cherry bullet was a mess from a group i like.

I think it comes back to the music for me, but if the packaging detracts from what could be fun i give it miss almost from the start.

fx that you mentioned struck a really nice balance and expanded the margins, maybe that hurt them in the end as just the right music was too hard to find.
