This is honest BS!!

Now they are adding bighit to the big 3 like COME ON HOW MANY SUCCESSFUL GROUPS HAVE THEY MADE? 1 AND A HALF?

the big 3 status isnt from pure profit alone thats not what it means, I mean we have had companys like CUBE and FNC rival JYP but in the end the big 3 status has a lot more to it than profit. They are hugely established companies due to their long run of successful groups and their hype

Think about it, ANY group from the big 3 is guaranteed a big debut, look at twice.. got7.. stray kids, NCT blackpink. if YG debuted a group rn they would hit big.

The delusion is strong with this anti-yg thing, you cant just kick out the second biggest company and delete their long and current success, and you certainly cant just add companies easily. they have been the big 3 for over 10 years, sure lets just add bighit after 1 group, I mean bighit may get there later with txt and maybe a gg or something but not yet. They still have to prove their longevity and how they will survive without BTS.

I think these people on the internet dont even think before they speak like they can just kick out a company with blackpink and gdragon in it, ikon, winner, and groups to come, in 3 months this whole anti yg thing will be forgotten just watch.

what do you think?

Thank you, agreed 100%

I think big 3 has lot to do with legacy and what these companies have brought to kpop, how they have changed the game and YG has had huge impact on what kpop is.

It's been said before but there is so much more to being in like the "Big X" ranking than having 1 really successful group and a half. As amazing BTS sales are, Big Hit hasn't really shown anything outstanding themselves to be called one of the "Big". BTS has done amazingly, Big Hit however not so much.

yeah, so we should just rate BTS as the kings of kpop and not bighit as the king of companies Lol

the big 3 status isnt from pure profit alone
It may mean something else to fans, and obviously does, but it is intended as a term referring to the financial dominance of the companies it describes, and I believe it's specifically related to market capitalization. This is why that article announcing the 'new Big 4' defines it in entirely financial terms and lays out exactly why YG has been excluded, based on factors like risk, internal investment decisions, and the loss of profitability due to their breadwinner, Big Bang, on hiatus for military service. It has nothing to do with fan perceptions of amorphous and financially meaningless things like legacy, nor is it intended to mean that the company's legacy is somehow less. If YG's value and risk assessments come into line with the other big companies they will be back in the Big however-many-there-are. It's only because no one challenged any of the previous top three for so long that people took it to mean anything other than a financial distinction.

while that may be true for the meanwhile or whatever the market is stocks dropping and stuff, the big 3 still is YG SM JYP and the big 4 is just some anti yg bs. They are just painting that narrative when its clear the whole reason they made the whole article was to exclude YG. and now we have everyone jumping on it like it means something, and army runnning with it like bighit takes over, we will see YG is still a big 3 company when this all settles down.

it’s BTS that’s making the company famous, they have a looong way to go

and they maybe are the kings now, but i feel like the title should go to TVXQ or BIGBANG (well... just my opinion)
yeah thats okay, all are kings in their own way. But for me I only see one at a time and its BTS reign as of now, if bigbang wanna take it they better work for it.

While the Big 3 has been around for a long time before that it was a Big 2 with DSP and SM, at the end of the day it will change and is it really that big of a deal whether it does or not?

The thing with changing from the big 3 seemed to have less to do with Big Hit making lots of money and more to do with YG is losing both money and reputation right now.

Seungri may have left the industry but there's the tax evasion stuff with YG that's also going to follow the company. If they are like SM though that won't ruin them and they'll do a great job of covering it up.

So yeah I don't think the focus of the declaration was Big Hit making money.

Plus CJ was also said to be apart of the "New Big 4" and I haven't seen too many people debate that one as much. Though personally I can kind of see it and I feel like SM has been picking up smaller labels to compete with their many

Well I think wanting to wait and see how things are for YG at this point is normal since the company got dragged into mess on top of Seungris mess.

As for Big Hit being in the problem with this is people said they couldn't be in the Big 3 cause they only had 1 group and then they debuted TXT so logic would dictate they can be in the Big 3 now so the Big 3 needs more defined parameters on what makes a company the same level as SM, YG, DSP and JYP.

As big as BTS made it, I don’t think their success alone could boost Bighit up to Big3 status. Like, the Big 3 have a consistency with debuting big groups, but with only 1 1/2 “big” groups, it’s not really fair that Bighit would a give that status. By that definition, even MBK would’ve been a Big 3

I think it's a loose media term where the meaning changes depending on what we're talking about. It could go a lot of ways. YG used to be all BigBang and that's what gave them the power to be what they are now; at what point was it deemed they were big three and DSP was out? I have no idea of the chronology there, but BigHit is taking a similar path of One Massive Group giving them a huge leg up. TxT's debut has been quite successful, and while of course that could change the outlook is looking good.

Then there's the partnership with CJE coming up, where Bighit is doing the music; if that goes well that'll be a huge feather in their cap. If we're taking profit, then definitely, they're a threat just like YG was a threat back in the day.

But are they big three NOW? Probably not. SM, JYP and YG have their fingers in a lot of pies. SM isn't going anywhere, they're too big. JYP is still rising. YG's troubles haven't sunk them yet, and BP will help stave off problems for a bit. This comeback's gonna be huge. We also don't know if BB will re-from as 4, and who knows how Korea will react. They're still pretty beloved by many people.

People acting like YG is a fallen giant as if this upcoming Blackpink comeback won't be monstrous lol. CJ is huge but the various agencies under them aren't really pumping out those same numbers. Do Starship or Jellyfish groups have the same hype/sales/charting/success/fanbase that YG groups do? Rarely.

DSP is a fallen giant. From KARA to April and KARD, yeah. Hardly what YG situation is in terms of their groups atm.
