Yeah I think the hiatus is more bc of jiyoon leaving than the concept tbh

It could be over Jiyoon leaving but that's still a bad sign as take what fromis has gone through in between this comeback and the last from Gyuri leaving and it gives you the impression the company has lost interest in the group and while this is Pledis however not only is IST questionable itself but this isn't a rare situation.

Oh My Girl have said before that Secret Garden was make or break for them and if they didn't succeed they would be disbanded which this was the comeback after JinE officially left so WM weren't willing to push Oh My Girl anymore if they didn't get something to show for it and I wouldn't be surprised if IST is at that point with Weeekly.

I don't follow her myself but I was told by Yoda that her latest song was doing well and rising at one point so it's possible WM pulled her thinking they could miss a potential opportunity for her to breakout as a soloist if she stayed.

She was going to get a group I believe though as I think WM had trainees however when RBW acquired them due to not wanting WM to debut another girl group that could be direct competition to their own recent girl group Purple Kiss they put some clause that WM couldn't debut a group for 3 years apparently so Chaeyeon ended up as a soloist instead

thats really unfortunate for her, I think she really should have been in a group and I'm sure she also really wanted to be in one, hence we she took part in so many survival shows to get into one

I do think it would've been better for Chaeyeons success as Kpop fans are mostly group stans so even if 30k is still decent for a soloist I find it hard to believe she wouldn't have gotten around 100k sales in a group so RBW really put their own groups before their success there in my opinion.

The allure of Wannaone/IZ*ONE type bump is just too strong for the kids and the agencies.
What Queendom did for MMM Gidle and OMG can not be forgotten either.
Queendom 2 has not had that effect at all that i have seen.

Honestly none of those groups except weeekly and wjsn are in a great place. and wjsn is nearing EOL.

They are more straight up just declining since their 2nd album got 43k then they got 36k with the next and 38k with the album after but their last album got 26k which on its own could be just an isolated album and it still might be if their next album does closer to 40k again however I feel like Purple Kiss has lost the hype they had early on and this is more likely to be a continuing problem.

Doesn't seem like IU, Huh Gak, Juniel, Yena, Jeon Somi, Tayeon, Lee Chaeyeon, and many more are suffering. I think as a solo artist you have greater flexability to change and find what works for both yourself and for your fans. There's a greater chance of longevity as a solo artist. There's also a greater chance of being able to recover from failures. It's much cheaper for a company to keep a solo artist going that doesn't have great sales vs. a group. I also think it requires a lot more talent and work to be a good solo artist. I admire those that take the solo route because it requires more courage.
