yes they did but some members did not and others are going on reality shows ect.
They are already down to 1 cb a year and july will make a full year since the last one.
They did get about 2x physical sales

digitally .. oh As you wish charts high on new years. but other than that.

I am not sure they will last like say Apink.
I would bet the girls are looking for the next phase.

All but two members renewed their contracts. It has been stressed several times by StarShip and the companies of the girls that left that they are considered part of WJSN and will participate in group releases.

You pretty much admitted in the that disucssion about Wonyoung, that you are not able to see any point detached from your own perspective, I wonder who has the head stuck in the sand

Doesn't seem like IU, Huh Gak, Juniel, Yena, Jeon Somi, Tayeon, Lee Chaeyeon, and many more are suffering. I think as a solo artist you have greater flexability to change and find what works for both yourself and for your fans. There's a greater chance of longevity as a solo artist. There's also a greater chance of being able to recover from failures. It's much cheaper for a company to keep a solo artist going that doesn't have great sales vs. a group. I also think it requires a lot more talent and work to be a good solo artist. I admire those that take the solo route because it requires more courage.

I don't think being a soloist is inherently bad or good. Success wise I do feel groups tend to do better. A lot of the top soloists I feel are or were in a group that undoubtedly helped them achieve success, they very well might have not managed to survive or do as well without that. But I think it probably should be more dependent on the skillset of the idol and their feelings of going solo. Some probably can and will prefer the solo route, some would rather be in a group rather than solo. For some going solo obviously won't feel like death served on a plate, though I think without using a show or group as a introduction it might be death served on a plate in the success and longevity department.

Its hard to tell ofc there are guys like the dude who sold a million albums last year and i think he has a new one.
or the other trot based folks like HG and LCJ.
IU and Taeyeon are different levels from the rest of the girls.
baring the active gg member like bp and Nayoung , maybe RV.
the rest are going to be ecstatic with say 100k but more like 50k.

Yeoreum is on puzzle.
both Luda and Soobin are in that virtual group ...not sure how much effort or how useful that will be . but i think its a 2-3 year contract.

I don't think being a soloist is inherently bad or good. Success wise I do feel groups tend to do better. All very true. I believe it was OMG's YooA who refused to go solo for years. Not sure how her company convinced her but I remember reading an article about it when she made her solo debut. I do think going solo generally needs to be something an idol needs to desire. I also can see why it would seem more fun to be a part of the a group.

Especially if they are or were part of a group and got used to that. I've heard more than one idol say it was unusual/scary at first to go solo. Taemin also said during the time the others had enlisted that while he liked being solo he missed promoting with members. So he for example probably wouldn't do that well as exclusively solo even though he has the talent and stuff to back it.

Being a pure soloist unrelated to any group is legitimately the hardest path in the industry because there are examples of female soloists who have multiple hits and fail to even sell 50,000 like Ailees is only 10k.

The overall problem is a couple of things with one being that Kpop fans are inherently group biased so a case like IU is incredibly rare and then there's not being able to do everything like Oh My Girl can do 6 different schedules in a day while a soloist can only ever do a single one and production costs for MVs and songs is still high regardless of soloist or group.

It does have the benefit of being able to do your own thing but if you want a long lasting career to make money from then it's better to be in a group as you'd be incredibly rare to build a fanbase that can rival even some medium level groups.
