I think u should act according to ur areas situation. The more there is coronavirus around and the more the infection chain is not known the more careful u should be.

There is 15 cases in my country currently, but all of them have visited North Italy or they are family member of someone who visited in North Italy and also had the virus so the infection chains are known and the people who might be infected are quarantined. It still feels relatively safe, though not completely. I was thinking a bit avoiding going to public places, but decided against it, i have too much to do for that and it would feel like overkill right now. So I'm just trying to pay attention in washing my hands and not touching my face when i'm outside. If it gets worse in my area I'm planning to avoid going to city centre to buy food and just use small shop close by and avoid public transportation.

The only thing that makes this special is the extended period of the ability to infect, but even then its a cold/flu that looks to be even less dangerous to the young than normal.

China had 1 report that high and it was suppressed FAST so it was either false or the cover up in China is huge but that would also leave 1000 + dead in South Korea from the numbers they have infected that number would stand out.

i did not listen to this but he is say ing .2-.5 % which is nothing.

sure...the situation of your country matters in what you should do... but the precautions every country is certain in sharing are the basics i listed in the op...and people are still fighting those like its too big a deal to just make sure ur hands arent disgusting...dont try and shame people as paranoid for taking care of themselves and following the directions..

See I've been hearing 3.4 from most sources, this is the first I'm hearing of any other value, especially that low. The panic is causing the disruption via testing.
Most folks will just get a version of the crud from it.

But another co worker went to the casino last night ate at the buffet place was packed.
Where ever you live its has been there for a most of a month its just too portable, it it were a real issue the numbers would have jumped out by now.

Best myth I've seen so far is that you can get the coronavirus if you eat at a Chinese restaurant. By extension to other afflicted countries, this also means you shouldn't eat at Italian, Korean, Japanese and Iranian restaurants.

Which leaves Mexican restaurants and McDonalds/Burger King/Wendys as the only dining options for us.

Well it's great kids aren't dying but I'm guessing you're over the age of 9, as is hopefully everyone on the forum there haven't been huge surges in the US yet there true, but there have in other countries and that's where the problem is. It's not that it's dangerous now but that it can be dangerous if people aren't careful.
Also Trump isn't exactly playing into this, he's the one who for a while had said it isn't dangerous. The WHO isn't gaining anything from this, and the CDC are the ones giving out free tests. I'd say that playing into panic is something that the government is likely to do but not in cases of epidemics because it's the opposite of profitable, it causes problems to the economy and economies worldwide.

Exactly. The way the statistics are trending, some epidemiologists are predicting that we will be approaching this as just another strain of influenza.

The mortality rate of 2% will go down when the world get a better handle on the number of aymptomatic cases. Test kits are in short supply right now and they're being used primarily on people who are exhibiting symptoms. The number of people who don't have symptoms but would've tested positive is not really known right now and is taken to be close to 0 (for lack of data) for the mortality rate calculation. When that number goes up the mortality rate will go down.

indeed...but people are trying too hard to act like corona virus really isnt an issue at al.. thats my problem. they see people taking the precaution and talk about how everyones panicked...why try and fight it so hard if all the 'panick'coud possibly due is simply make people a little uneasy and encourages people to actually take proper health precautions they should be anyway. to much panic is a bad thing for sure.. but if people are a little unnecisarily afraid...let them be at least they are taking care of their health...trying to ensure everyone there is no issue and to change nothing will lead to it spreading...and hurting the demographics that are impacted

yes... no healthy person should be at all fearful for their safety...and even though its common sense...thats why im assuming th people so distraught by others caring...are people who dont have the basic common sense themselves...you just need to be precautious but not too fearful unless you have a reason to be
