I didn't remember it. Anyway, I was introduced to metal music through Quiet Riot, and Metal Health is one of my all time favorite songs, along with Cum On Feel The Noize.

For me the first real introduction to the Genre was through Judas Priest via Painkiller.

Unfortunately, I knew those songs in the 2000s. It happened that I joined a church by those years of the 80s and there were some kind of hysteria about satanic music along those circles. Stupid things. It was believed the subliminal messages that were being put in the music would "force" you to get severely corrupted. Subliminal messages cannot do such things.

Stryper as well as other bands (I've never heard of Holy Soldier) was almost exclusively what I listened to. My church was liberal in that sense; although it's stance wasn't agreed upon by other churches. I knew Dee Snider is a Christian and Twisted Sister more or less came with positive messages; but the hit of the moment, promoting rebellion, didn't sit well with them.

Yeah. I don't think Holy Soldier was that well known. And there were a few other christian metal bands in the 80s-90s, but I'm not sure if your church would have been keen on christian death or unblack metal. I mean maybe they would have been okay with blind guardian because they changed their early name so as not to seem like they were satanic.. lol

umm.. Mortification started in late 80s. But you are right with the unblack thing. It didn't start until mid 90s.. Ironically the drummer for mortification was the man behind Horde [the first unblack band]. I do feel bad for him with all the death threats he got from the Black Metal crowd. Talk about christian persecution.

I went to that church for only 2 years, so by 86 I wasn't going; yet I didn't go back to non-Christian metal until the 2000s. I never knew about Mortification.

"Horde". I think I have known about that band. If my memory works fine, I think that's a one-man band.
