So is the misconception that all Indians speak Hindi or that foreigners think the language is called Indian?

I would say both. But I’ve heard the speak indian one a lot more.
Hindi isn’t even spoken throughout the entire country. It is one of the national languages as most Indians and Muslims can understand it. But each state also makes content in its own language. I can understand Hindi. But I cannot speak it no matter how hard I try XD. It starts Hindi and end up guju.

Have seen people thinking that my country is IN Denmark. (when actually we are like Greenland)
Also that people assume that we speak Danish. Most of us do know Danish, but it is Faroese that we speak.

That we eat sperm whales and other giant whales, when we actually eat dolphins. (the thing about the sperm whales is in the past, I think.)
And I think one Dane assumed that we eat seals, which we actually don't do. (probably did it back in the old days, I don't know)

I have a similar thing. I can understand drag queen lingo, but when I try to do it, it gets mixed with my gaycent and starts to sound like I'm a Kardashian...
