Lol it isn't a breed at all, it's just a name for a certain coloring pattern (tri-color pattern) which is caused by having certain genes in each X chromosomes (why it's only females) since the X chromosome contains the genes for the black and orange coloring. A calico cat would have one X chromosome with black colored genes, and one X chromosome with genes for orange coloring, and the base fur would ofc be the white

The only way for male calico cats is when there's a mutation and a cat ends up with 3 chromosomes, xxy, being intersex. As the y chromosome is what determines becoming male, despite having two x chromosomes, being intersex, and having female characteristics because of this, they would be biologically male

Also because of the cat being intersex, and having two x chromosomes along with a y, despite being biologically male, male calico cats are always sterile

This is also true for humans with this mutation giving them 3 sex chromosomes, XXY, and causing them to be intersex. There's a name for the mutation, but that much I don't remember from biology class
