What is it with Ailee & Gfriend? (1 Viewer)

I'm finally getting around to watching the recent releases by Ailee, Honey Popcorn, Sulli etc. But I am having to take a few moments to catch my composer after listening to Ailee's latest song Room Shaker.

Over the years I've always respected Ailee as a artist and one of the best female vocalists in Korea. But just like IU who I also respect as a person & artist, I've never been able to get into Ailee's music.
But then I listened to Room Shaker and omg..... The vocals. The attitude! This is how you combine talent and attitude. Right here! Junior artists, take note!! I've already downloaded the song and added it to my playlist, and you can bet that I will be watching this MV on repeat for the forecoming week!


And now this is the moment that I bring GFriend into the conversation. Because like Ailee, I've never been able to get into GFriend's music. That is till their most recent release with 'Fever' which became an instant bop for me. (you'll be able to find my thread from a few days ago where I expressed my shock).

What is it with these two right now? Two acts that I've never been able to get into before. But suddenly their most recent releases are without a doubt going to end up on my 'Most Favourite Songs of 2019' playlist!!

its crazy that a no name company like them has enough juice to make that happen.

I can understand JYJ as i think most of the industry was not happy with them ( the companies that is)

The thing that scares me the most is that if YMC isn't gonna let her perform (not just promote) this album, there's a chance that Ailee won't be to perform any of her other works. She'd essentially have to start from scratch without a proper agency to negotiate on her behalf. Her entire discography just gone...

I really hope I'm wrong tho, since she did a showcase

I didn't really like Ailee's song but her album was golden ^^

I'm still surprised about the Ailee blackballing thing, does YMC really have enough power to do that or are they legally allowed to coz of some contractual things? Sometimes things may be scummy but still legal so I'm confused- like I'd think SM has enough power to block people even when they're not legally allowed to, but YMC?

Anyway what happens to all her OSTs then? Just recently her OST for Arthdal Chronicles was released and it's amazing.

Ailee really did something different this time ( though not as surprising if you know more of her). She really didn't come to play which is great after doing alot of ballads before this release.

I do see why the change with GFRIEND and Ailee could be more to your liking though. Alot of people seem to be blown away by both songs.
