Just out of curiously, what led you got have the belief in the first place? Im not judging, I’m just curious what led you down that path, because I know there’s a variety of beliefs people have that can make them believe similar things.

seriously, I just never bothered to question our existence in the universe. So yeah, a bit of everything, being young and naive, being easily influenced in my youth and fascinated with conspiracy theories. You know, the trifecta! lol

When I was little, I thought the "correct" way to speak English is with "proper" grammar and vocabulary as is used in formal writing. Now I realize that I'm an idiot, and that languages always evolve, and that the correct way to speak English is such that it's understood by others, which varies depending on the audience, subject, dialect ect.

well I've become more cynical and more pragmatic

also the believe that nothing really changes or moves the needle

'tis better to live and adjust oneself within the situation rather than to change the situation itself

what I mean by that is take for example climate change - rather than hope for something to happen I'd just try to mitigate the effects of it

But if people's lives are at stake and many states will be comprimised (a third of world's nations are projected to become 'failed' states because of the social effects of climate change) then I think fighting for change is worth it.

But if people's lives are at stake and many states will be comprimised (a third of world's nations are projected to become 'failed' states because of the social effects of climate change) then I think fighting for change is worth it.

I think it's because getting married and having children implies a great deal more responsibility compared to my youth

It does, responsibility comes first. I still think if you have the opportunity to help a cause you should take it, that's a reason why I'm pretty active I have good opportunities

I think that's where the cynical part comes in - I don't think there's anything I could do to change things and thus my thoughts are that if others wish to do so - so be it all the kudos for them but not for me...

getting back to climate change - I know that the planet is fucked and a lot of people in the world are going to be fucked BUT and this is the selfish uncaring cynical part - I have a good job sufficient money, living in a first world country with the necessary resources that I could survive the effects of climate change far better than the majority of the world

Unfortunately I cannot think the same way. I may live in a good country where no matter how much we profit off the coal industry I'll be fine, but our country's emissions are the laughing stock of the developed world. Our industries are some of the things killing the planet. You can sit back but I cannot

and I fully support you in doing everything you want or can to combat it

you've known me for a long time my friend - one of the things about me is that although I might have differing views to other people I also don't seek to force my views onto other people - there are a lot of people in the world that think I have my view and thus everybody needs to think like me and anybody who doesn't is going to hell and blah blah

I'm more of a "ignorance is bliss unless it concerns me" type of person
