Most of the times it depends on my mood; but taking into account some practicalities (like hurricanes), I'd prefer the mountains.

mountains! considering how globalised the world is becoming, the beach would probably be buzzing with tourists all day and im a peace loving person so i would go for somewhere quiet and away from the city. i like the cold too so the colder temperatures wouldn't bother me that much

Mountains, seems more isolated and there would be less sand all over my clothing, I would also probably get eaten by a bear, so that is always a bonus
