I would only work for a few hours just for fun
And if it’s too exhausting, I would quit without any worries

i'm a student currently, but if i won the lottery as a working person i'd donate most of the money to various causes, then spend some of it on personal expenses (getting fancier instruments i'd suppose), maybe give quite a bit to various family members and friends, and once i'm done giving/ spending it all, then i'd simply continue working

i don't need all that much money.

5 mill after taxes totally quit, although i typically do not play until its a a point where i can cover all of my siblings and my retirement needs.
2.5 would more than cover me and let me travel ect until i die. Some need more since they have a bigger family.

The problem is after you have all that money your FU tolerance goes way way down. Depending on age ya need something to do but i could figure something out.

now stupid money that is harder like say mega is at 500 ish so about 150 after all taxes. split that up 3-5 ways depending.
do something with the handful of charities i trust.
Worst thing is i would have to buy a phone since i have promised to do so when i win the lotery :)

The currency difference makes 5m dollars even more valuable in my country, but I would definitely still work. I'm dedicating my whole 20s in order to become a doctor, that means I care a lot about my career and social status.

if I won that much, I wouldn't be able to get my SSI check bc they want my bank account under $2000 every month, so sadly, I'd have to give most of it away.

While that amount of money is a fair share of chump change, I would still work. There are other reasons to work other than money. Plus, the people that win the lottery that don't have a clue what moderation is tend to blow it in no time or end up dead. You think you got only a couple friends? Wait until you win the lottery and people who you knew in 1st grade who you haven't talked to since 1st grade start to come out of the woodwork. But to be clear that is a lot of money, but life [if you own your own house] tends to be expensive as well. Living in a nice area and paying your own bills when you live in a house and not an apartment would be expensive where I live.

Plus think about it. You have a lot of money and don't work. Wouldn't that reinforce the likelihood for you to spend more? I would also assume that since you don't have to work and have all this money that your friends that are not rich would be working. Hell, even friends that are rich would be working and as such you likely would be spending a lot of time with other people of the same income status, since that is what people do. And then there's the prospect of using money you get from work on stocks to get even more money, which is a lofty goal.

i have a land line, but i have promised to get smart phone if i will the jackpot. i just personally hate the idea of another thing to carry with me. on top of all the other things i dislike about cell phones . like if i wanted to type to ppl there is email ...
