Tbh if YG was smart (which we know they're not) they shouldn't shell out so much money to keep BP. They're in a lot of danger of becoming reliant on them to support the the entire label which isn't a good thing. If they get tied down to give significantly more revenue in order for them to re-sign then a significant amount of their revenue will be reserved for BP's salaries alone which leaves very little room to maneuver for other group's renewal terms. Don't offer BP an absurd amount of money to resign their contracts because they can be just as easily managed by someone else more efficiently or just disband, and you won't have to shell out any money. That is just my opinion though.

isn't the ultimate question whether the cost of keeping BP exceeds the benefits from keeping BP?
I mean from a company's perspective as long as BP is a net positive and a decent return on investment - wouldn't BP be worth keeping?
also even if the cut to BP would be more since it is a contract renewal but overall pie is bigger wouldn't that mean YG will still benefit in the long run?

This is really interesting though, I've always wonderd how it was possible for the companies to throw away all those famous idols after their contracts ended, just like they were yesterdays trash

Is this the first time the idols got so valuable, that one of the big 3 kpop agency has to actually fight to keep them?

Is this the revolution BP promised? :passcodea:

TBL could use BP as leverage to get an investment from an international label to afford them. I don't see them willing to give up that kind of control. And stocks are only a good deal if they go up. They could get 25million in stocks but if the company manages them poorly and stock prices go down they could get nothing.

I agree that YG should try to keep them, but they want to shell out close to 65 million dollars in total for their renewal, but their net income is only around 6.7 million for 2021. That is a shitload of money to try to get them to resign, and imo that is just not worth the money to resign because they'll probably be in a similar if not better shape income wise if they don't have to pay BP that much money. While they weren't active in 2021 I still think that it is still the case that whatever revenue BP brings in will just be used to pay their salaries, so it won't be much benefit to keep them signed to YG. It reminds me of the situation that some parents are in of being a dual-income household where 1 parent is working to pay the daycare fees of the child.

that is an interesting question - obviously neither of us know the real numbers as to what BP brings in but I'm sure someone smarter than both you and I are crunching the numbers behind the scenes...
whether the actual number is 65m or some other number - maybe BP has more value in another company that's not YG???
