About another country/former country, then get told you’re wrong by the people who lived there, then accept that you were wrong but then get told by other people from other countries that you were originally right and those other people who lived there are wrong?

That’s been me for a few years now, I wish there was an easy answer that everyone could agree on

I think it happened a few times tbh, I don’t even remember which countries anymore, I even researched and read about it after I was told I was wrong but the research agreed with the people who told me I was right

Logically the people who lived there, their argument makes the most sense in multiple ways, but so many people say that it’s another thing, and not just Americans like I thought would be the most prejudiced and therefore disagree with those who lived there because it wouldn’t fit their agenda sort of?

American History books are so bad it's really sad. You can't trust anything written by An American publishing company. California history is the worst. California missions = Native American slave plantations. The missions were worse than Nazi Internment camps and Calfornia LOVES to glorify them. Most Americans wouldn't know the truth if it landed on their head ass first when they had their mouths open. Your best bet is too look at all the options and go with the one that makes the most sense and is backed by the most data. Or go look for yourself.

no because we didn't learn much about other countries and if it was it was about times from veeeeeery long ago like ancient greece and stuff like that so i didn't really think whether it was right or not i just memorised it to get over with as history wasn't my thing

Wow and I thought america was obsessed with themselves in history because we were required to take one US history class (minimum). The others could be whatever, but I think World History was a requirement in my state too? And if you wanted to you could be like me and take world history 6th Grade-Junior year and take one 2.5 month US history class to fulfill the requirement (my brother did the same and didn’t even need to take a proper US history class, he got away with doing a science of American technology class or something?). Most people took at least one full year US history class in my state and in high school at least 1 world history class (not counting all the world history in middle school) in my state, my second school was different so I got away with it only being 2.5 months. I can’t imagine it being like yours though, where you don’t learn anything about other countries at all really

i think the main difference is that there was not a thing like "taking" classes at any school i went to, you and the others students are basically given a schedule you have to stick to and that included one 45 minutes long history class a week so the teacher just wanted to fit as much basic info as they could (and what was in textbooks) in these classes and then if someone wanted to in my country most high schools have "profiles" where you decide which one you choose depending on what subjects you want to study more (still doesn't work like taking classes but if someone wanted extended history they could have it in high school). so for me there was no world history and history of my country it was just... history
