The obsession with line distributions /neg (1 Viewer)

I need to say first that this is mainly /lh because it's literally just music.

BUT.

The obsession I keep seeing with stans being so so so angry at groups and companies because of line distributions makes me cringe SO BAD. Recently I've seen it get really bad with Kep1er's debut and with Bahiyyh. First off, I think this is a case of "crazy stans" partially. A lot of the times with groups (especially ones with more than 5 members) there will be stans who see that their bias or ult or whatever gets less lines than other people in the group. Now, I'm not talking about the times where one member has like literally one line and everyone else has at least 10 seconds of lines. That's a different scenario. With Bahiyyh she GETS LINES. I remember seeing a borderline outrage on stan twitter, tiktok, even kpop reddit. People were screaming and crying and punching the air because Bahiyyh got "no lines". I kinda wanted to laugh.

1st: Dayeon - 23.94 seconds
9th: Bahiyyh - 8.69 seconds
Difference: 15.25 seconds

UP! Line Distribution:
1st: Chaehyun - 25.37 seconds
8th: Bahiyyh - 13.23 seconds
Difference: 12.14 seconds

Does she have less lines? Yeah. You have to keep in mind though, there are 9 members. Not only are there 9 members, but there are 8 other members besides Bahiyyh who are more vocally skilled than here. Before I get attacked, I'm not saying she isn't talented. She is. She wouldn't be in the group if she wasn't??? What I'm trying to prove here is just because she's your favorite doesn't mean she needs to be getting 45 seconds worth of lines. Kep1er doesn't have official positions as far as I'm aware, but it's speculated that she would be given probably sub-vocal and/or sub-rapper.

This isn't even the only group I've seen this happen with. I know I'm gonna get yelled at for mention Bahiyyh, but I'll even mention my own ults.

Twice.

Twice has had some issues too with line distribution. Jeongyeon getting little lines despite being Lead Vocal, and sometimes even getting less lines than the rappers. Again, it's a 9 member group. Not everyone is going to get even lines all of the time. One of my biases/ults in the group is Momo. She's a sub-vocal. Do I think she deserves more lines? Absolutely. She's an amazing vocalist. BUT. She's also a sub-vocal and rapper. Therefore when it comes to who usually gets more lines, it's going to go towards Lead and Main vocals.

It's the same thing no matter the group.

Anyways. Stans, stop whining when your bias gets less lines. It's music. They aren't getting mistreated (don't even get me started on the missusage of words in kpop). They aren't getting ignored. Please shut up.

That happens a lot too. Lines are based on positions, style, length of the song, etc. So many factors.

Here's a hot-take. Most of the idols are happy with having 5 to 10 secs participation in the song. Who wants to sing AND dance at the same time for more than 30 secs, anyway?

True. But when an idol tends to regularly get the short stick in multiple comebacks that can be tough for some fans. It does become tedious when antis take advantage of fan outrage to sow discord.. Like when some have insinuated that Chanwoo's line dist is low because he is not a good singer.

yeah I understand wanting to see more of your bias in a music video, but sometimes people go too far. However, if line distributions and screentime are consistently uneven, I also get kind of uncomfortable with how the group is being managed.

when someone has like 15 seconds but is on the last place then i don't get the outrage because after all someone has to be placed last but when it goes to the level of gugudan's the boots or everglow's no lie or loona's hi high then i see where they're coming from because you don't spend years training only to sing 4 seconds
