I always thought she was rated too high, but folks love her tone.
I do not know Bom other than the fact that i cant listen 21 songs, but that vocal site had her below Krystal i believe, while H was more in the average area.

This is coming from someone who loves both. Despite Hyolyn's decline she's still considered a skilled vocalist, whereas Bom didn't have great technique from day 1.

At Hyolyn's peak, she and Luna were arguably the best K-pop vocalists. Over the years she's gotten a bit weaker at controlling higher notes and her airiness is pretty evident, but she is still a better singer than Bom.

EDIT: I was reading the comments and just wanted to say I disagree with people who say she's overrated or not that good :/ Her strain is more noticeable because she has a really light voice and sings in a higher range which is her weak point, but plenty of singers strain more than her. She's good by K-pop standards, and the reason she's praised is mostly for her vocal agility and strength in lower notes.

I think Bom has actually improved... but again she's still below Hyolyn's level. She doesn't deserve any hate for it though, YG told her to sing that way. Plus she's a vocalist that prioritizes style and emotion, I mean she's an amazing artist in that aspect.

People don't attack Hyolyn because she's simply not a bad vocalist. It would be like attacking Mamamoo vocalists who are somewhere around her level currently.

Nah SISTAR were definitely as big as 2NE1. They probably had more hits than 2NE1 too. I don't get why her decline isn't highlighted though. I mean Bom's "bad vocal" name rose like towards the end of their lifespan. Something like 2014? I will say though, Hyolyn's decline is way more visible now because she's solo. It was masked since she had Soyu around. Bom didn't really have anyone else.

It is obious that starship did an amazing job with marketing Hyolyn, giving her alot of high notes, giving her opertunities like solos etc.
I think that just this image that starship potrayed of her is one factor why her decline isn't really mentioned

I think the biggest problem with Jieun was, she was given and marketed for a role her voice wasn't meant for. That whole pop vocal diva thing did not suit her tone, even if she had the pipes for it. Her company probably realized that, which is why they took a different approach with her solo stuff. The one thing TS did right lol.
