One Last Time Was The Thematically Perfect Title


SNSD.

The group that got me into kpop. And so many others.

Through many triumphs and tribulations

The magic of their storied run.

Will stay with Sones forever.


One Last Time was perfection.

Emotionally. Thematically.

It was the perfect capstone to SNSD's active run.

If I were an SM storyteller who desired to paint the most fitting narrative for a legendary group. With the awareness that the group would probably end active promotion.

This would be my title.

It feels like the title.

Poignant and beautiful.

It captures the retrospective of their career arc.

A bookend to Into The New World so long ago.


A proper send off to one of Kpop's most magical eras.

it should've been the title. i really did expect them to release a typical snsd title (all night) and a nostalgic-sounding ballad to sum up their career (one last time)

but they went with holiday to show people that they weren't done being snsd. but it takes away from the sincerity of the comeback. because it could be the last comeback and they knew that.

I was really disappointed with how they handled Holiday Night, especially when they knew it might have been the last. They just didn't take it seriously. I was expecting something more elegant and deserving. I'm proud of Seohyun for penning Holiday but I know first-hand that she could have done better

I think One Last Time or Fan would have been better titles/subtitles. They're more meaningful for a potential send off that didn't take away from what we were celebrating

True. I think One Last Time would've been perfect as a title because it's really an emotional and meaningful song to SONEs on par with Sailing and Into The New World. I like Holiday and All Night a lot too but Holiday wasn't all that meaningful of a song. Even though I liked it, unlike a lot of other title tracks, I could definitely see this one being a b-side as well and still going well with the album, with All Night and One Last Time being the two titles.

The problem is it all depends on SM.

It's almost certain SM owns the SNSD legal entity and library.

If so and SM was not on board with a comeback they could not benefit monetarily from, only the SM members could legally perform as SNSD and perform SNSD songs.

Unless some contractual arrangement was made through all the disparate member's agencies

It complicates a full comeback when members are not in SM.

The problem is it all depends on SM.

It's almost certain SM owns the SNSD legal entity and library.

If so and SM was not on board with a comeback they could not benefit monetarily from, only the SM members could legally perform as SNSD and perform SNSD songs.

SNSD are set on becoming the next Shinhwa. Getting the fuck away from SM and sticking together as a group. I do think they'll manage to do that. But rn SM does have a hold on the group and the members left under them. I don't see Taeyeon leaving SM any time soon anyway. But since SNSD will make money for SM no matter what hopefully they see the benefit of promoting with the members that left SM.

Holiday Night was a clusterfuck promotion because SM was getting nothing out of it. They weren't getting endorsements or tours so they made sure all they did was put out an album and once the first distribution cycle ended they ended everything. Honestly SM is the fucking worst. They don't care about SNSD's legacy at all.

Plus didn't SM instigate Shinhwa a bit by not offering to re-sign Donghwan n forcing them to leave SM to stay together. Opposite of 2017, I think.

I'm supportive of their decision to sign or not sign w/SM in 2017 it's up to them. N I don't like SM for their treatment of SNSD n others.

But it's not so simple I think to do a Shinhwa now. Court might rule u can just don't sign w/SM if u don't agree terms since SNSD was created by SM.

It's not fair but its the law when u signed with SM knowing their/n koreas history w/Shinhwa, JYJ, Highlight n idk if there are any more.

Tl:dr I hope for the best.

Also wish the best for the next generation, lowkey wish groups could own n control their name more like the west-Beatles, ABBA n others voluntarily/by own choice hiatus/quitting instead of f(x) n pristin in the dungeon for example.

hmm true. i don't know anything about shinhwa. i just know snsd kept mentioning them in 2014 during their first contract negotiation period. so i guess their best bet is to stay on sm's good side...

sm is too petty for that. and seeing as they said "The direction of Girls' Generation's promotions will be carefully decided after discussion with the members" after news came out tss were leaving, i feel like sm was trying to strong arm them and remind them they held the power.

i wonder if sm knew who exactly was leaving now. it's possible all or most of the girls waited until the end of their grace period to let sm know. though i don't think sm would've let them do holiday night promotions at all if that were the case.

also it's still so shady that they didn't upload the photo taeeyeon took with seohyun at 's concert...

I think they gave up on em as hit act but we will see. RBB was a drug induced nightmare released just in time for Christmas.

I guess ya have to take the good with the bad, But it would be nice if the agency did not screw up the music. I expect them to fubar the cb timing and promotions /sigh.
