Have you been more satisfied or dissatisfied with the releases this year? (1 Viewer)

For me, I'd say that I've been more dissatisfied with a lot of comebacks this year rather than feeling satisfied. Of course there was still some amazing comebacks, but I feel like a lot them were just extremely underwhelming. There's even songs from my own faves that I didn't like as much as their other tracks, or that I didn't like at all.

In a way I feel like I'm sounding a bit ungrateful for what's been released. These groups have worked really hard on these comebacks, but at the same time, I can't force myself to like something that doesn't sound good to me. A lot of the groups I follow have already had comebacks this year, and I'll admit that some of them just didn't reach my expectations.


Anyways, what do you think? Have you been more satisfied or dissatisfied with the releases this year?

I think I'm more satisfied than I was at the beginning of 2018. I remember being quite disappointed in a quite a few of the releases at around that time. There have been a few that have been underwhelming this year but I've enjoyed most of them so far.

Considering that my fav groups apart from Blackpink haven't had comebacks, what has come out has been quite satisfying. I mean it's not that amazing- but kpop these days aren't for me so I wasn't expecting more. Maybe i'm bit positively surprised even, I mean i even liked BTS comeback and that hasn't happened after Blood sweat and tears

I'm actually more satisfied than I was last year with releases of the groups I stan. I mean, I didn't like all comebacks, but most of them reached my expectations ^^

This year for me has been an odd one. Quite a few of my faves came back in January/February time, then except for Chen in April I’ve not really listened to much newer music. Red Velvet’s mini was alright, but I only liked a few of their b-sides. July for me looks brighter with Baekhyun, Chanhun and Day6 releasing stuff. I think the biggest thing for me is that a lot of my faves (sooo many) are in the military, so the groups I normally look to aren’t releasing anything.

I feel the same way. Some the releases have been outstanding, but a lot of them I found most of them boring.

Honestly, I've liked them. I've seen quite a large number of fans claiming that the songs this year were either too expiremental, or not unique enough. Personally, I've enjoyed them. On top of this, I've also been able to explore new groups and different genres, as I found myself enjoying releases from groups I don't listen to (ex. The Boys, TWICE, ATEEZ, etc.).

My favorite songs from 2019 so far have been Kill This Love (album), LP, Fancy, Breakthrough, I'm So Hot, Me No, Side Effects, Bing Bing, Oh No, Senorita, and some others. Mainly girl groups this year, for me though.

I'm kinda neutral this year so far. I can tell there is a lot of new groups that are coming around but they are not for me. All my fav groups are serving the military

completely dissatisfied. there's companies who experiment but do it in a way that their music just sounds like unbearable and incoherent noise. then there's companies who make generic cookie-cutter music to get a few easy sales and go. i'm getting kinda bored tbh. there's only a few groups who still manage to bring something refreshing to the table with their comebacks.

the only thing that can save me at this point is another LOONA comeback. they've never let me down and i've been stanning them since the good ol' "who's next girl" days. LOONA is the cure to boredom and everything they do is monumental.

Nope, it’s not just you. I’ve even been lowering my expectations when there’s new comebacks. If I get my hopes up too much then I end up getting super disappointed. :/

I actually enjoy seeing groups experimenting, as it could potentially open up new doors to different types of music in the future. It would also help K-POP expand in a different direction than it has before. As long as it stays within certain limits and sounds good, I'm fine with it. I can understand why people would dislike it though, and people usually like hearing things similar to what they've heard before, format- wise.
