I just said I wanted to see white people in KPOP (because of diversity), and they said let "Asian music be for Asians". Okay my dude, I am Asian, so I know what you mean, but that isn't what I meant. Honestly, I meant that I'd like to see more diversity in KPOP. In my opinion, the logic that "KPOP should be for Asians" is equivalent to "Western music should be for Western people", which is really toxic imo. What are your opinions? Do you guys think KPOP should have more diversity? Also, keep in mind that my original comment was that I'd like to see more white people in KPOP, but I don't believe Lana should have debuted as she wasn't really ready, and only debuted because she was white (imo).

I feel like Kpop should only be for Koreans or asians. Western has diverse people so if you wanted to, you could possibly become a singer. Kpop is different, Korea’s majority is Koreans. It gives Koreans or Asians a huge chance to become an idol. America is hard to make it in, but if Americans started becoming Kpop trainees it’d be wack. Sorry if this is insensitive but purely white people have a better chance making it in America then asians. I feel like Kpop & western music evens it out more. Kpop gives asians a better chance then Americans. Western music gives black & white people a better chance.

Right? 💀

Like, what ya'll mad over? Diversity should be a thing everywhere, not just Western countries. 🤡
Is diversity even in Western Music? Brown/Oriental people literally have no presence in the western market lol.

I'm more on the side of no. Mainly cause in America when white people broke into music genres/industries dominating by people of color the history of POC's creating the music was erased. For many years Paul Whiteman was given the title 'King of Jazz' even though he changed jazz music to be more appealing to white audiences and got rid of things like improvisation that made jazz unique. Black artists who developed the genre were shut out of playing at the same clubs (thus made less money) and their contributions were ignored for a long time. But for Whiteman he "elevated" the genre and was happy to take the credit and fame (also known to hire white jazz artist more than poc).

It is possible to have diversity in industries and genres but I think it should be done with caution. Like imagine a white artist joining kpop in a few years and getting a lot of recognition and then claiming they were the "Father/mother of kpop", made more money, and the kpop acts we know were forgotten

Edit: Also, should be noted that it happened with many more genres than just jazz and some people claim that to an extent still happens with more modern genres like rap and hip hop

I'm curious, what are your thoughts on South Asians joining KPOP? Not ZPOP.

My personal opinion is that any person who is fluent enough in Korean to perform should be given a chance, no matter their skin color or place of origin

Like @Walnutt oppa said, anyone who can speak the language fluently should be given a chance to sing. Although, I really don't see why brown people would want to join the Kpop industry. We're treated as an inferior race with "dirtier" skin. Like, why would anyone wanna put themselves through that? Lol.
