News Mnet survival show "Queendom" contestants revealed- Mamamoo, AOA, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz, (G)I-dle and Park Bom (1 Viewer)

So the very idea of the show seemed off putting to me, but I thought it would be mostly nugu/lesser known girl groups participating- like Laboum, April, DIA, Gugudan and so on. Instead they have some pretty big names here and I'm not sure how to feel.

All 6 groups, well 5 groups and Park Bom will release a song at the same time and whoever does best will be crowned "Queen". The potential for fanwars, mess, evil editing, stans hating other groups is high, so I'm really not too keen on this. Groups like Mamamoo and AOA don't need the exposure really, and as always, it will come down to popularity and screentime given by Mnet. What do y'all think of this show?

Personally, I want everyone to do well but I'll be having the back of my girls Oh My Girl. They're clearly the underdogs here, and I'm hoping this show gives them more exposure, brings in new fans and makes more people stop sleeping on this talented group. Who do you got?

This really is a surprisingly big lineup!

I will be supporting (G)I-dle, since they have really caught my interest these days, while Mamamoo, my previous favorites have disappointed me with their last few comebacks.

I don't know why Mamamoo is even in this tbh, or if they can really get any benefit from it. I stan them but I hope it doesn't just turn into them running away with the show coz they're popular.

K-pop doesn't have to be a competition of which is currently so embedded in the industry right now.

People should just enjoy the music and purchase albums/singles and engage with the music if they like it.

Yet the structure of the show is... a competition. There shouldn't be a 'Queen' title at all. Naturally, this could very well be a popularity contest with fans going against each other as per usual.

Mnet didn't think this through. But then I'm sure they know exactly what they are doing. They want the competition and exposure for themselves lol.

Still, if the songs they are given are good, I'll buy them all and watch all MV's etc! I like MAMAMOO, OMG, AOA & (G)I-DLE!

Yeah the idea in itself isn't bad but the very structure of the show will be a competition format, crowning a queen and all that. There will probably be votes coming into play and fandoms are gonna go crazy on each other. I'm really not looking forward to stans attacking other groups everywhere, and I hope if any toxicity happens, it doesn't carry over into their post Queendom comebacks, but who knows
I'd much rather they take 6 groups and make diff collab groups with members from diff groups teaming up and then releasing some song honestly.

Tbh, I don't really like the idea either. I'm not looking forward to all the fanwars and the increased competition.

I hope Oh My Girl get some exposure too though. Thay have some really great releases that I hope the public get to know.

I think the biggest red flag to me is that Mamamoo just so happen to be the only huge group in it, no Iz*One, no Gfriend, no Apink, ofc there's no chance in hell a Big 3 group would be in this but the fact it's only Mamamoo and then to add on they put Bom in there when the whole point is supposedly about groups makes me think they didn't really care who else was in there they just needed some names big enough to draw attention like Bom, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz, (G)I-dle and AOA do but not names big enough to potentially beat Mamamoo.

Actually sounds pretty good to me, I have been bit bummed that there isn't really dance battles and such things anymore in kpop like interactions between groups have just gone down a lot. Though ofc I'm not hoping it's going to be cut-throat competition, probably won't be between artists, but not fans either. I guess it depends a bit how it's organized, i think on bright side it can be entertaining and do good to all groups included, but if there is fights about cheating in votes and such things well could get ugly too.

That part is quite weird i mean Bom being only solo act there i feel like she could be quite disadvantaged from the start
