I'm going to say 2017, since 2017 was the start of a new era. KPOP become popular in America then as well. Like, you can't group Stray Kids with BTS, and you can't group (G)-Idle with Red Velvet. 2018 is too late. 2016 was when TWICE became popular, too early.

Well, I feel like since KPOP is advancing, the generations are getting shorter, especially due to the global expansion and recognition of KPOP. For example, you can compare a song from 2003 to 2008, but not 2011 to 2016. Technology and trends are changing muchh quicker, which is why the generations are getting shorter.

And yeah, the last point is what I mean, since group trends are changing now.

If it's started then it'd be 2018/9 but it's easier to tell these things when we're into a generation already since then you have the history that goes along with such generational changes like the rise of digital market since 1st gen was only physicals and also the hallyu wave.

Then 3rd generation which has physicals rising again, the price change for digitals and western market and if 4th generation starts last year then it'd have digitals rising as last year almost all of the top 100 songs had 1 million and kpop in the western market.

honestly we barely started the new gen. Third Gen is still going too strong. A full on middle of a generation doesn‘t make sense. Wait for the next group to hit it big. Then you know what gen. is the current one.

Do you mean the second half of 2017? Because Dreamcatcher is January 2017 and are still 2017.
I do agree with you though, they are probably at the later stages of a 3rd gen group.
